Just curious to find out what programs everyone uses for webcams. I've tried a few so far but haven't found one that I'd definitely stick to. Currently I'm going back and forth with Yahoo and ICUII.

So tell me what do you use and why?

Yahoo rocks, anything else is a pretender. ICUII? Never heard of that before.

I used Netmeeting once for video and was impressed on how big the picture was, and how smooth the video was.

Wanna practice :D

NetMeeting gives the best picture. Eyeballchat is pretty good too, but I found it a little buggy, crashing a lot.

I use Yahoo and ICUII as well, I've tried netmeeting but had more trouble from it than it was worth.

I haven't been able to use my favourite one, which is the INTEL directory, mainly because I don't know anyone on it. The reason I say favourite is because the picture is so clear, perhaps someone from here uses it.

I tried Netmeeting and found the picture quality was excellent. Plus I liked the fact I could pull still motion pics out of it quite easily.

Hey Zam...wanna teach me the ins and outs of these things? ;)

I might take you up on that ;) I don't have a lot of Yahoo contacts with cams right now.

I tried Paltalk this morning but it locked up my system. I did like the multiple video screens a user could have up at one time.

We use Yahoo here ... but by far Netmeeting is better ..... just have that many friends on MSN Messenger

I can't get mine to work at all with Yahoo. It keeps telling me I have no webcam on my system but I do. Do I need to go into a chatroom for this to work? How can I just have a private conversation with someone. Normally, I'm not this computer illeterate but this thing has me stumped. :(

You don't need to go into chat for the cam to work.

Does the cam work with other programs? What mode/brand of cam is it?

Edited to say: Try this website, http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mesg/webcams/index.html

It's a Logitech. I've never tried to use it with another chat or IM program.

Hello ....

You should be able to just click the webcam button on the message window of the person you arer chatting with.

If that won't work .... on your main yahoo messenger window ... click Login ... then preferences .... highlight webcam ... there you should be able to configure your cam source and settings.

I hope that helps

I have a router which doesn't like NetMeeting (or vice-versa). Yahoo is much easier for me.

ISPQ

It's a lot more friendly than either ICUII or NetMeeting, and is easier to configure with a firewall.

$40 is out of my league right now. I was looking for free or inexpensive chat alternatives.

..and it's $40.

You get what you pay for.

ICUII costs the same after the trial period ends. Its a one time charge

And in return, both services offer dedicated servers, organized by interest, over a stable network with a devoted user base.

I've connected at 30 fps consistently, and once you registered the software, all subsequent upgrades were free.

ICUII, however, requires you to open WAY too many ports, whereas ISPQ gives you much greater security.

*shrug*

Both applications allow you to try them for a trial period before you buy them, so its not like you have to pay to discover you don't like them.
