Am i the only one sick and tired with the shit that some folks have the
nerve to call a story.
I've been useing this Site for as long as i can remember.
and things are most definitely going down hill.

I'm having to look longer and longer to find something good to read.
Ninety percent of the stories are just not worth the time.
I can tell within the first few lines if it's going to be any good.
i'm not on about the writing. or the odd mistake here and there
it's more to do with the story line. sometimes i get to thinking that's
it's just the same story with a different name.
back in the good old days it was all about the Wives having a bit on the side
or Mature women picking up young guys.even the Interracial stories were good.

But now we're overrun with cuckold and Bull.stories.in witch none of the guys
have a cock bigger the 3 inches.and then you have the sad sweet sorrow where the guys finds out the Wives are playing away ands pend the next 20 chapters
going on about how he gets even. and last but not least we have my biggest bugbear Interracial sex stories. over the last few yrs have become nothing more then a put down for white guys.

But there are so many more stories here than anyone could ever read. It shouldn't be too hard to avoid the kind you dislike and read others. There's alien abduction and tentacles. There's sweet romance. There's consensual swinging/sharing. There are harem stories. Sex slave stories. Obviously incest. I wonder if you are limiting yourself to too few categories? Also, read mine, they don't have the things you're complaining about! (I'm sure they have other stuff to dislike though!)

I am not - how could I? - arguing against the point that there’s a lot of under-utilized plant food here. OK, given, acknowledged, understood and so forth.

As a woman once advised me however, before you meet your chosen prince, you’re going to have to kiss a lot of frogs. Just move on. There’s lots of excellent fiction here.

Good luck!

A bill always come due.

Sometimes you pay with currency (the marketplace.)

Sometimes you pay with time (navigating free content.)

I can get chapped on particularly troublesome days but most times there are more good reads than I can handle. Not to mention instances where I need to reflect inward and stretch my own reading "wants" outside my usual comfort zone.

Lit's imperfect. Everywhere is. I control what I can control and regularly refine my search process to stave off frustration.

Lit: Where You Get What You Pay For...

Here's the thing: I've been reading here around 20 years. I agree there have been fluctuations in overall story quality. And yet never once have I actually been completely unable to find a story to suit my mood.

Might help, OP, to change the way you search? To focus on tags? To ignore categories for awhile and gravitate toward a specific writer?

This may be the source of your problem, because, no, not really, you rarely can know a story isn't any good just from reading the first few lines.

You were asked a good question up the line. What categories do you read in? What sort of stories do you read? Your sweeping statement about all stories here must mean you read extensively in all categories, right? Otherwise you'd be grossly exaggerating what is here. Right?

I wrote for literotica for a long time, then took a very long break before coming back and I would agree that the tenor of some categories has changed somewhat, but there have always been poorly written stories and stories that seemed to be more fantasies than something that's actually plausible. There are still more good writers here than poor, and if you want to see how poor poor writing can really be, just check out some other sites. What you need to do is broaden your horizons a bit, find an author or authors you like, and stick with them. You'll find the reading to be enjoyable and those authors will appreciate your votes and comments. Down-voting a story and complaining about the general tone of stories doesn't tell an author anything and after the author has written for a while, don't really make him or her feel bad. The just figure it's somebody with an ax to grind. Sending constructive comments does.

I've written several inter-racial stories and none of them are what you described. They're just stories about two people of different races who happen to find each other and decide they should be together.

I suggest hanging around here more often.

I've met lots of great authors here and discovered plenty of great stories through them.

We all tend to talk about what we're up to and plug our own stuff as well as others. So there's plenty of variety depending on your tastes.

I think most of the more serious and more imaginative writers hang out here, IMO.

1. Where are you looking?
2. How are you looking?

I’m constantly finding new stories by varying those above methods, even now when I’d have thought I’d found every story I was ever gonna like.

...with the shit that some folks have the

Given that you're apparently not complaining about the writing quality, you seem to be saying that the writers are at fault for not writing what you, specifically, wish to read. Well, gosh... have you tried Kindle?

I've been useing this Site
Not as a writer, presumably?

I think there's a big part of the problem right here, because these are conflicting comments. If your issue is the story, and you're not giving the story a chance, how do you know you're not missing out on some true gems?

Solid themes, for sure. 'Even' the interracial ones.

Yes, it can be tricky when fantasies are too close to reality.

I admire you for the healthy investment of time despite not liking the story.

Well, at least now you know how the black folk felt.

Please consider providing constructive criticism through comments on any stories that do not meet your expectations. Maybe the author will take your comments to heart and attempt to improve enough to win your loyalty as a reader.

If you invest the time in making the stories better by taking the time to provide feedback to the authors, you will benefit in the end.

Ninety percent of anything is shit, I felt this was a pretty well-known rule. Consider yourself blessed that you can apparently figure out any story's quality at a glance and therefore do not need to burden yourself with a duty to read the whole thing to see if it gets any better.

Any wound, if it could be argued to be one, is self-inflicted.

You have the option of writing your own material in any way you see fit and mostly disregarding other people's submissions. So far you haven't done anything of your own yet. That's fine; there are people who come here just to read, not write. Keep in mind that Lit is a "mass producer" of stories. I don't know how many stories and authors are here, but it's a huge number. Mostly the site only vets stories for certain rules, not the quality of the writing. It's not Harper's Magazine, and it would be impossible for the tiny staff to do that.

I would encourage you to give writing a shot anyway. How do you do it? One word at a time, like we all do. It is very satisfying, although a big responsibility perhaps, to know that the entire thing is in your hands. If other people like it, if you like it, that is a great feeling to have to.

The old stories are still there, so if the new stuff getting published isn't to anyone's tastes and they feel the plots etc. being written 10, 15 or 20 years ago was better, all they need do is search a little more.

Every story here is free to view, and the selection is massive, there is things out there to suit everyone. For each person who hates a certain type of story, there is another who loves it, and who is to say one is right and the other wrong?

People need to remember that the authors aren't here to cater to the specific desires or wants of every single individual who reads the story, they are putting out content to a wide audience that includes people who do like what they post as well as those who dislike it.

If anyone wants a story catered to their specific ideas of what the plot should be, how the characters should think etc. then they should either write themselves or go to a pay site and cough up the dough to get someone to give them exactly that.

To be fair each person is different and every person’s fantasies and fetishes are owned only by them.

Sone people love LW stories about unfaithful beaches who get their comeuppance, others prefer cuckolding stories were their wives are taken and the guy is left looking like an arse (which is probably why there’s such polarisation in this category).

Me…I like swinger stories of couples enticed/seduced into the lifestyle that encounter dramatic obstacles that either see them ended but smarter or bring them together.

I know I’m not gonna get stories like this every day or week, but maybe 1 or 2 a month is pretty good.

And finally, if you think you can do a decent job, have a crack. You might find you really enjoy or, or, it’s not as easy as it looks.

While I agree with most, maybe all, of the responses here - especially concerning the OP's category choice - there is one thing of note.

I can tell within the first few lines if it's going to be any good.

Right, wrong or indifferent, there is ample research to suggest that a story/book sinks or swims in the opening sentence; no more than the opening paragraph. This is why writing courses, coaches and editors hammer writers on the importance of those opening words. Failure in the opening can kill the story for readers.

The OP might be dead wrong on everything else, but this much is pretty spot on.
