Hey!

Getting a lot of emails, and I noticed some comments in the Halloween contest thread, but can you list all the problems you have found on the new Story Page here in this thread?

So far, we know that the following are missing:

1. Also In This Series (disabled during rollout because of a bug, coming back today we hope)
2. Similar Stories (disabled during rollout because of a bug, coming back today we hope)
3. Text ads at top of page (disabled during rollout because of a bug, coming back today we hope)
4. Who Favorited This Story (disabled during rollout because of a bug, still working on this one)

There was a font size bug in some browsers which we totally missed in testing. It was caught immediately by about 10,000 users, and we got it fixed within a few hours.

I have seen some comments about font size issues on the Comments tab in the Halloween Contest thread - can someone let me know what that's about? Where are you seeing it and what exactly are you seeing?

All other complaints, comments, suggestions are welcome and wanted.

Thanks and sorry for all of the bugs when this went live. We were pretty sure it would be a smooth rollout. We were a little wrong! :D

login not functioning properly

Today's new issue for me is inability to get to my private area to check on submissions, etc. Windows XP sp3, either Firefox or Safari. On the index page, I click "login", the small window opens for username and password, and then it shows me logged in as username, but clicking on the blue username doesn't do anything. Not even any evidence of activity of trying to load a new page.

that's gotta be recent; it worked fine not too long ago.

I just checked and you're right, it's not working for me either when I click on my username. Strange, it was working fine a few hours ago. Getting on it now.

When I look at these two pages in Firefox, the fonts appear to be the same. Can you let me know what browser you're using? Also, can you try holding down the SHIFT key and reloading the page with the smaller (or non-standard) font and see if that makes any difference? We had that font bug yesterday, but once we updated the CSS file, it should have been fixed. If your browser is storing an old cached version of the buggy CSS file, it could be causing the problem. Or, you could have found another bug that only shows up in certain browsers or operating system or something.

Thanks for any extra info you can post and sorry to bother you with this.

Yes, that does look wrong! Is that new since yesterday's upgrade, or part of our ongoing fight with the Series algorithm?

FYI, these Series issues will all be resolved once we turn Series management over to authors. The auto-generated Series were created as a temporary solution to deal with the previously posted stories (before the idea of "Series" was conceived). The goal for the future is to have authors completely manage their Series, including the ability to modify any old Series that have been created by the algorithm. :)

tried the shift thing - nada. i'm on windows.

Sorry it didn't work! Are you using Firefox or IE or Chrome or Safari? Also, which page shows a smaller font - 2 or 3? I will try to figure this out with your help. :D

the text size in the comment box is too small.
next chapter seems to be missing(but as said in first post should be returned sometime)
in our own pages i do not like that the overall scores are public knowledge. we at least should have the choice whether we want those public or not. don't find this particularly fair during a contest because you will have people going about bombing the "good" scores, thus making a fair win not really possible, just my two cents about that.
do like it's easier to favorite a story/author. the sharing options, well, nice for those that really want, i still prefer to link them "manually".

No, it's been that way since the second series was approved.

Ah, I see, that'll be an interesting feature.

Same problem. I sent you a pm it explains my problems with the login. Which are very similar to spoiled_bratsche.

Just replied to your PM, but I'll post the info here too. While we are working on the problem, you should be able to reach your member control panel by going to members.literotica.com or clicking this link:
http://literotica.com/members/main.php

If you still can't login with one of those methods, drop me another PM and I'll get it figured out.

Sorry for the bug - it's driving me crazy right now. :D

spoiled_bratsche, can you try going directly to this page:
http://literotica.com/members/main.php

I just used the link to submit a story, but I hope we don't have to keep using that route. The other didn't work, for some reason.

I do have something to say about stories in a series: I like the idea of grouping the stories by an individual author in series, but it can't be done by category. Some stories in a series are in different categories. I have one series, Marian and Ryan, and the stories in the series are in at least three diffferent categories.

Listing stories in series on the author's index page is a good idea too, but you should let the individual author tell you what stories belong in a particular series. In a series of mine, Angel, you have a story there that does not belong, but is about a different woman named Angel. In the Marian & Ryan series, there are two more that belong there, but are not included because of the difference in names between them and the rest of the series. They should also be listed in chronological order rather than alphabetical, because they often build on previous episodes and make the most sense when read that way.

I have other stories that should be listed as parts of series, but are not, because the names are dissimilar.

Yeah, still not working as of 4:50 p.m. Eastern. Clicking Logout works, then I can log back in, but can't go any further. Will bookmark one of the links you provided until it's fixed.

Thanks.

Okay thanks for the link. That works fine. Good luck sorting the problem.

You can right click on your login name and click on "open in new tab" etc. to get past the link not working on a left click. 4:49 CT

Story Ratings don't agree.

The ratings shown for submissions on my members page, and those shown in the list of stories when I click on the link in my signature are not the same.

I have only checked the two competition entries but the difference is significant.

Are they updated at different times?

In this story Reality the font changes right after the scene break on the first page.

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 and Google Chrome 6.0.472.63

I have also noticed that this line (42 comments/ 49006 views/ 0 favorites) is barely visible in the vBulletin 3 Default Style.

Here's a picture of the end of page...is the white strip supposed to over lay the lit graphic to the right of the story?

From what I could see the following changes have been made:

1) The scores for every story are now shown on the member’s story page.

2) The font has been changed on all stories.

3) It’s now almost impossible to login to the page where I submit stories.

4) There’s a box at the end of the story that says “Share The Love” – I have no idea what this is for.

First Question: Is this the complete list of changes or have I missed some?

As I’ve mentioned before I believe it would be a much better if you’d write a clear explanation of what changes were coming, what to expect, when they were coming, etc., etc., before you implemented them (even if only a day or two before).

I would like to congratulate and thank you for putting the scores next to the stories – it’s something I’ve championed for a long time. I did notice though that the scores didn’t follow the story to the Most Viewed list. Not sure if tthat was planned or not.

I’d also love to see the number of votes each story has received next to the rating – perhaps in your next change you can address this question.

I’m not sure if I prefer the “new look” of the stories or not. I’ll have to give it a few weeks and see if it grows on me. I had hoped when you redesigned the page that you’d center the story on the middle of the screen so I was disappointed on that front. See below links my latest story – it gives a comparison of the two sites I submitted the story to. Due to the type size and the centering I think I prefer the SOL presentation. Mind you I do like being able to use Italics, Bold and Underlined as you allow and as far as I know they don’t.

I didn’t see any difference in the submit COMMENT area as others seem to have reported.

When I click the Submit or edit your profile: LOG IN it allows me to log-in (it says I have anyway) but doesn’t take me anywhere. Which means I can’t get to my home page to submit a story or to check recent activity, etc.

You do know all those changes just happen when you login don't you? Only you are having these problems.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. I highlighted the four changes I noticed and asked if these were all the changes he’d made or if there were any others.

As to your, “You do know all those changes just happen when you login don't you?” - Changes #1, #2, and #4 that I highlighted are there whether I’m logged in or not.

My only problem, Change #3, seems to have been a problem experienced by others if I’ve read the posts on this thread correctly.

I also noticed another oddity – some stories have very small font size – you can hardly read them. For example the font size on the MOST VIEWED story on the site “A” My Name is Alice changes a couple of paragraphs into the story and becomes miniscule. You have to have very good eyes if you want to read that one.
