"we didn't start the fire"

Not a very high bar then.

uptown girl was also a bit, er, well a bit.

You're a bit.

I only really began to appreciate Billy Joel once I was in my late 30's. And I wouldn't say I'm a fan, but I respect the body of work. I think he inhabits an entire musical space that isn't my jam. But some day it may be.
The sheer number of hits though. It's astounding. I saw Lionel Richie once and it has got to be the same feeling, I was shocked by how many of these songs I knew. I'm a rock guy, I like shit with teeth, and edge to them. Like pointless once said years ago, and I agree with, I like songs that sound broken. But Lionel Richie is a slick funky BMF.

I do really really enjoy Down Easter Alexa, nautical themes and schmaltzy shit gets me every time.

(Even though a Down Easter is not a fishing boat)

A thread about "We Didn't Start The Fire"...and no mention of "Life Is A Rock"?

10x worse than We Didn't Start the Fire.

I love Billy Joel, though I'm not a super fan. I saw him twice in HS and he ALWAYS delivers. He's a pretty funny guy too.

One of the defining moments of my life involved that first Billy Joel concert.
