Someone dear to our hearts has just told me that they must delete their membership here. The user name has been attached to the flesh-and-blood person.
It so sucks. :confused:
One of the great blessings of the internet is ithe potential for at least a modicum of anonymity. On a site like this one, wouldn't it be possible to change a user-name across the board- I know the site is php-driven, meaning we are all stored on a database. It seems to me, that some one of us here (not me, I ain'tno good at it) could write an SQL command for Laurel and Manu, that will seek out and change the user-name in every table it might reside, here in the forums and in the story lists as well.
Then, some of us would still be around in a new set of clothes. so to speak.
I know it's not the solution for every need, but it would work for some of us. :(

I think they can do that. I know you can get a name change if you pm Laurel about it.

And how sad, too, that we have to hide. :( Don't know who it is you're talking about, Stella but *hugs* to them anyway.

Yeah. That sucks.

A :rose: to whoever.

Most bulletin systems can change usernames on an admin level. Hope that's enough to restore anonymity.

Update {table name}
Set name_column to 'new_name'
Where name_column = 'old_name';

Commit;

Manu and Laurel should know this! ;)

Well, that's good to hear, Sophia-jane, and I'll suggest it to our friend. I mean, who'd want to leave this haven of rest if they didn't have to? :)

True that. Y'all are gonna have to physically kick me out to get rid of me, I think.

Hi, I'm Martin Spencer from Columbus, OH and I write porn at literotica.com.

To hell with anonymity.
Oh, please, since when does Martin Spencer sport green and brionze scales? :rolleyes:

seriously, women with young children... best they keep their identities under wraps. We live in Dickensian times, my friend.

I don't worry about being judged particuarly, tho, of course, that's an issue with my upcoming divorce. I do worry about safety issues as a single mom.

And then there are members of Corporate culture...
One would want to preserve one's career, without losing one's sanity.

Amen to that.

*hugs* to whoever has been discovered, and I hope they can get a name change and stay around :rose:

Ditto to that :rose:

With me what you see is what you get, but to be honest, who's gonna stalk me ? Plus I'm now retired, so the job thing doesn't count either. Guess I'm lucky, I'd hate to be in the position that kicked off this thread. Life can be such a bitch...

Fuck. They found out I was Muffy Snugglebum, third cousin / sister to Andy Dick.

:rose:

PS If you haven't already been PM'd with the name of a person who has had their name changed on the forums and who you might want to contact, PM me.

That's really my biggest fear -- that my smut writing would be used as ammo in a custody battle -- or that some asshole would report me to CPS for it.

Fortunately, there are no custody battles on the horizon. Assholes, however, are in abundance.

*GRizzly Bear Hugs* for whomever is involved
Best Wishes and good thoughts

Name changes can be done. I know from experience when I went through a time when I thought I was going to need the protection. I hated it though because I never felt like "me" under the other name.

The danger passed and went back to Crim.
