We are at War, yet it really doesnt feel like it.....does it?

I think it seems distant because we don't see the true impact; no journalists can get in to find out, and anything the Taliban releases we can't tell how close to the truth it actually is.

Also we haven't sent any troops in, which is why it doesn't feel like a real war yet.

I hope it doesn't escalate to that level.

It's affecting my whole fucking life. Yeah I notice it.

it seems to me like it some weird movie that we're all a part of... that nothing is really going on and i can continue living in my weird little world and so on like that

Me Too!

I guess my family and friends are very enmeshed in various aspects of the military.

As for me, I feel like I am on pins and needles all the time.

Does it feel like a war? Hmmm I don't know. Except for the Persian Gulf thing, which was more like a video game, I don't know what war is supposed to feel like.

This isn't a war...

this is George Bush getting his rocks off.

The New York terrorist attacks are the excuse, but if they hadn't happened, something else would have to allow him to play macho man...

:(

PP, you really ARE a moron

What are you talking about, PP? Blair is just as insistent on these strikes, if not more. Anyone elected President would be doing what Bush's doing. In fact, he's been widely praised at home and abroad for his restraint.

I'd be glad to have you come in and I'll test you for degenerative brain diseases. ;)

WTF

p_p_man, I thought you had finally begun to think rationally. Guess not.

Given that Bush has a 93% approval rating from the American populus and an incredible 90% of the Democratic party approve of his handling of the situation, I would offer that it is NOT GW getting his "rocks off", but the American people.

And I don't mind getting my rocks off in this manner.

:)

You mean because I wrote something you could agree with a couple of days ago?

:)

That would require him to have a brain.

p_p_man is a troll

Pee pee/doo doo is a troll who posts stupid shit just to get attention, whether it's positive or negative.

I don't know how war is supposed to feel. But I have to agree that it's all very surreal.

I've lived near military bases all of my life. I have quite a few friends in the military, two of my sisters are dating military men. So, it's THERE, but it isn't what I thought it would be.

MY life hasn't changed all that much. I'm more aware of the people I see, the planes that fly overhead, etc, but I'm not really doing anything differently in my daily life. It just goes on.

Just wait

If the body bags start mounting, as has been predicted, it will feel like a war.

It already has certain aspects of the Vietnam conflict, like the students at ASU saying they don't want to go and/or wouldn't go if drafted. Also like a Black professor at ASU who writes a column for the Augusta Focus questioning whether Africans would have a higher death toll than other Americans.

Same old crap!! "Everybody talkin' 'bout heaven, mon; but nobody wanna die."

PP, the British version of KidRock.

Feels like war to me. My hubby played that "video game" and is still trying to deal with it. See, those laser guided missiles we all know and love? The fun part is when the guys on the ship or in the plane press the button and they go where the supposed to and go "boom." The not fun part is the fact that the laser that's guiding them is held in the hands of troops on the ground who are "painting" the target with the laser so the missiles can find the target. Hubby got to paint quite a few targets in his time. Among other things.

Of course, I feel no personal impact, my life hasn't been rattled much beyond the new restrictions on the military post next to me. I just understand in a sorta "been there done that" way.

I hope it stops before it gets worse, but frankly, I don't see that happening.

thanks for replies.......

:p

oh Holy Hell

This affects me greatly. My best friend who is almost close enough to be my sister and certainly the closest thing I have to family, works closely with Prime Minister Blair. She is not in a high position or anything but she feels it every day, the amount of pressure and tension there. I have several friends in both the US and British military who are waiting and waiting, not sure when they are going to have to uproot and leave their families. I have another friend on Diego Garcia who is just waiting, coiled up and confused.

I don't want to fly anywhere. It is stupid, but I don't want to. I don't want to go anywhere. I am going to visit my friend in London next month and it is scaring the hell out of me. I don't even know why.

It sucks, it bites, it slithers, it spreads, it is cock. I want it to be over with.
