Hi all
I'm getting a brazillian done for the first time (haven't waxed down there before!). When I've tried shaving it was red and bumpy, not to mention painful and itchy. I was wondering if waxing was going to have the same effect (I have very sensitive skin). If anybody knows how to reduce the itchiness/pain/bumps please let me know. Lastly, how long will my pussy be smooth for afterwards?

Thanks

There was an article on salon.com about this, but the woman never said if the bumps were a problem. A dermatologist warned that it would be a problem, but her waxer just said to scrub with a loofah and it would be OK.

As aforementioned, exfolliation is key to preventing those yucky bumps. I have tried that Bikini Zone gel and it actually works too. I assume it would work after waxing, it works wonders after shaving.

I got a Brazilian wax recently and it didn't hurt that much more than my usual bikini wax. If you've never had a bikini wax before, it's going to hurt like hell. If you've never had any waxing before, take a tranquilizer first! (I'm serious, plenty of women do this. I was nervous about my first Brazilian and I did it too.)

As for the bumps - it won't be as bad as with shaving because there's no razor burn, but there is the possibility of bruising (more along the bikini line than where the Brazilian goes, actually). Simple powder or lotion will help soothe whatever irritation you do have.

How long will you be smooth for? Well, it depends how fast your hair grows. First of all, you won't be completely smooth, in three years of getting waxed I have never had a waxer get everything. Also, they do leave a "landing strip" of hair, and many waxers are uncomfortable doing the entire labia - mine only went about halfway in. Some waxers will have you get up on all fours and do your ass, but they're not generally going to touch your anus. Like I said, it depends how fast your hair grows. Mine grows pretty fast, and I'm generally good for a couple of weeks before the stubble starts to become actual bush again. I wouldn't advise getting waxed more than once every three to four weeks, though.

love it

I've been getting Brazillian waxes now quite a bit this summer and I'm addicted. Not to the pain - but the results. I normally suffer from ingrown hairs and red bumps - my skin does NOT like razors. Waxing has stopped most of the bumps and many less ingrown hairs. My waxer gets it ALL....and then she plucks.  The results? Really really smooth for almost a week. Two weeks of stubble but not as bad as a razor and then a week of ... and back to smooth. The key... if you can afford it - is to keep waxing and once you start - *don't* shave - because that will stimulate the follicals - which kind of slow down from being in shock. Basically - the more you wax, the better the results but don't shave inbetween.
