My g/f is getting waxed for the first time, she is getting everything off...will she be too sensitive to have sex that night or will she be all set? thanks for any advice

From what I've heard, it's generally good to wait 24-48 hours to minimize irritation, let any swelling go down and have time to adjust to the increased sensitivity. I think there also might be more of a risk of bacteria getting into places it shouldn't be right after waxing, so that could be a reason to wait a bit.

But, she should ask her waxer what they generally suggest, how she can minimize swelling and irritation, and go by how she feels that night. Maybe she'll be up for something lighter than full-on sex, or will want to wait or feel just fine; we all respond differently to 'trauma' and heal at different rates. Taking some ibuprofen (Advil) about an hour before the appointment is a good idea to take the edge off the waxing pain and post-waxing swelling, or so I've heard.

The skin will feel like she has a very mild sunburn and it will be a little puffy. My recommendation is to wait at least a day and see how she feels. She may be a little more tender and sensitive her first time.

I have had no problems and have been waxing for over a year. She will want to use something to reduce ingrown hairs. Those are nasty and painful.

If she is going to continue with waxing, don't shave in between waxing. I was told it causes the next waxing to be more painful. I didn't belive the person -- let's just say, I'll never use a razor in between waxings again. Ouch!!!

She can use "Tend Skin" to help reduce ingrown hairs. It works great for me!

I used to get the full monty all the time in New York at Bliss Spa. It is amazing. They use a low temperature stripless wax and I kid you not it was not bad at all. I have not found a new spa since I moved and my husband is very sad.

If you are anywhere near one of their locations, I can't say enough how much better this waxing is. You can buy the wax yourself at sephora, but i say let a professional handle that!

I agree with your comment about oral sex, I like eating her far more when smooth. She finds it far more sensitive as well.
