I think some of those accessories work well. You can really customize the rifle for it's intent.

I put a binary trigger on one of mine, and it works really well for taking out coyotes that are getting close to livestock. It just gives you that second round on a fast running predator.

Okay, there's a thought. I'll look into them and see what they're all about. My distaste for the Barbie-For-Boys aspect is, I knew a Barbie Boy once, briefly, who was into all of that shit, and he was a mag dumper and ran his mouth. In a word, tiresome. I usually like a good two-stage trigger like for match shooting. Nothing too light, but precise. The rifle I am (kinda) setting up now is a coyote gun.


I think that my best on-my-dirt shot on my place is a bit over a quarter mile. Reckon I need to buy out the neighbor next.

For a coyote rig I'd seriously consider a good red dot with the ability to co-witness with the irons. I'd go with the red dot primarily because of the high probability of having to make shots in low light conditions.

That's the one I'm looking into night vision for. I have yet to see one there with any light.

The rigs I've seen mount up with a red dot. It seems to be a case of where the technology is today. With the NV stuff you're actually looking at a tiny TV screen. Introducing a light source for sighting purposes would be similar to shining a flashlight into the lens of a camera. That's why you see them used with either a red dot after the NV tube or with a laser designator.

In other gun news, the local Sherriff's Department is having their annual Gun Bash next month. The big prize is a Barrett 50 BMG. Just in case an elephant comes running down the street.

So then I asked him if he had some ammo, he said, "No." Wonderful, he's trying to sell a rifle for damn near a grand and doesn't have any ammo to go with it. Right.

I got red dots on my AR's, but a fun past time is to go hunting for coyote on full moon nights over bait. Winter is the best because the coyotes are in full-fur, and without leaves on the trees, you can see a lot more. Most times, the air is very still too so windage is a lot easier to calculate.

It gets cold, but the long, long shots can be fun.

I got a B-14 Bergaria chambered in 6.5 Creedmore. It's a bolt action, but a nice rife in a nice caliber. It's a well-made rifle for stupid money, out the door it was only $970.

I have read about the 6.5. I have always thought the diameter had a lot going for it. I'm toying with the idea. And I'm reluctant to add another caliber to the storage system, but . . . .

I've (kinda) always wanted a lever gun. I think that dot three five seven would take care most of my needs before I upgunned. Out to 50 yards or so.

Those Henry's sure do look good. If you get one don't go shootin' no dot three eight speshul in it. I have it from good sources that that don't work to well ie. patterns like an open choke shotgun.
