If I'm not mistaken, it was November that a .308 AR10 showed up at the FFL followed a couple of weeks later by a 6.5 upper. Heavy barrel-type sorta target versions.

<<<<< I'm sure it's posted back there somewhere
The rep. is spreading. I'm seeing PSA showing up at some of the big box sporting goods stores. Take a close look.

I'd like one of their H&R M16A1 knockoffs. I always liked the look. All of the ones they have in stock now have the 1:12 barrels and I'd like the 1:7. Meh. I'd also like an A2, which they do have in the 1:7.

And maybe a .350 Legend upper for fun-n-games.

And a pony . . . .

OK, for those following along, or not, here is the basic build.

The action is a vz24 (BRNO) Czech action which is a large ring Mauser. The barrel is a Douglas xxag barrel. The xxag denotes it's the superior grade and air gauged. The barrel is .25 cal., 26" long, 1:7 twist, and the #7 Target profile. The muzzle end will be threaded 5/8-24 to accept either a muzzle brake or suppressor. And the crown will be a target crown.

The chambering will be 25-06.

The safety is going to be the Timney low profile safety.

The military bolt handle will be cut off and replaced with a Pacific Tool and Die scalloped handle with a round end.

The scope base is going to be a one piece Picatinny Rail.

This is everything that will require machine work.

Yeah, I've got that Colt Sporter with the slow twist. Shoots the light weights well, not so good with the heavier bullets.

So... the 6.5 Creedmore seems like a long .25 cartridge. Am I missing anything else?
The 6.5 is a .264 cal. but it is also a short cartridge. It's actually a good match between case powder capacity and bore volume.

The 25-06 was always an over-bore cartridge. The case capacity exceeded the bore volume for the bullet weights available. Now some bullet manufacturers are making some long, heavy-weight, bullets to take advantage of the cartridges potential. The issue arises concerning the rate of twist. The older 25-06's had 1 in 10 twists, fine for what was available then but not fast enough to stabilize longer bullets.

The 6.5 has an advantage in bullet weight, an advantage which I'm making up for in velocity. From a purely technical standpoint they run neck and neck out to 1000 yds.

Thanks! Sounds very useful.

Since most of what I have ( actually, all of it, I think) has the faster twist, I'll be better off with SS109/M855/62+ grain stuff. I have some lighter weight ammo, but I'm shooting through that, and the replacement stuff is 62 grains. Consistency is a wonderful thing.

My uncle did 3 tours, one with the yards, said they had all kinds of mean poison to put on arrows, they didnt like guns but would use them, said they downright hated a Chinese, considered Russia subhuman

They really liked coffee and cigarettes, that made them out best friends
