I wouldn't be surprised. Probably be replacing the barrel, operating rod, and gas cylinder a few times before the receiver was trashed. Damned thing weighs 9.5 lbs dry.

Pareto's Principle is the reason Socialism/Communism won't work............EVER. When the 20% that actually have the skills and ambition to get shit done realize that they're always going to get the same as the 80% that don't get shit done, they quit doing shit and then nothing gets done.

And pray tell, who can blame them??? Getting ahead (if nothing else) was what motivated me to get/stay better at what I do.

The Puritans did have something to teach about Work Ethic.

And that is exactly why Musk shitcanned close to 80% of the workforce at the company formally known as "Twitter." Obviously he's well aware of the 80/20 rule.

My dearest communists, I'm not hitting a lick to feed you. I do not care if you starve.

Anytime you think you are entitled to what I've earned you are welcome to TRY and collect.

Just be advised. There are meaner things than I in the woods.

And

To a feral hog you are delicious

Doing fine-- Spring is here, and it's planting season for us off-gridders in the aboriginal areas of Arizona. My partner and I will be transplanting seedlings all day. Good wildflower display this year due to the winter rains. Good music lately on the nearby rez.

Meanwhile, here in Wat's virtual civil war fantasy camp, the ammosexuals continue to glorify violence and obsess about their fears. What a way to spend a life!

We see a few of their type out where I live, because they move out of the suburbs to do parcel splits for their pathetic "ranchette" compounds. Then they spend most of their time on line while the weeds take over the scraped-bare land around their ticky-tacky manufactured houses and surplus storage containers.

We mostly hear about them when the sheriff's office gets called out to cite for target shooting within a quarter mile of another 3-acre parcel in their wildcat subdivision ghettos.

They put up fences and signs EVERYWHERE in these ghettos and treat the Natives like crap. Then they get into some sort of domestic violence situation and have to sell out. I've seen so many of these trashy people come and go during the past 35 years.
Glad to see you two are in good health and enjoying the beauty of the land because Arizona is absolutely gorgeous! Traveling down from Flagstaff into Phoenix was so inspiring that I (humble brag) incorporated into one of my stories.

It’s a never ending battle, isn’t it?
Rugged American individualism can quickly turn into ‘me, me, me and mine and this is how I want things done’.
Continue giving more to this world than you take from it.

Mostly what you and especially Wat do is mentally jack off on the porn board.

Lighten up, Francis. Nobody's gonna touch your shit.

Christ, this thread is descending into being a whine-fest of BoBo clones.

I have always liked the ruggedness and functionality of older Soviet designs. Mosins, aks and the SKS especially.

I got a cheap 1966 Chinese SKS type 56 carbine. (Way before nornico… it’s a factory 26, make.) it was beaten to hell, but rugged and fairly accurate. I put a peep sight on it to get a longer sight picture and went from a 4-5” at 100 yards to a ~2ish moa. May have been in Vietnam. The stock is really beaten up but functional.

Solid gun. Got it for 150 maybe ten years ago. My neighbor has a really nice Yugo, I’ve always wanted one.

Was at a gun show last week and saw several Yugos and a few Russians.

Ended up getting a Russian Tula arsenal, 1953. Really good shape. It was pretty common for them to refurbish them before importing them years ago, so I have a sneaking suspicion this one has been refurbished. Got it for 750 so it feels like a good deal for this day and age, but so many collectors talk about how they used to be able to get these for 100 bucks, plus a ton of old corrosive surplus ammo thrown in. That was maybe 20+ years ago and things were just different.

But it’s a great looking rifle. Won’t be able to test it out for a few weeks, but I field stripped it at the show and all the numbers match.

It has a floating bolt so one has to clean it well or else a potential “slam fire.” I will get to fully cleaning it in the next few weeks.

But yeah… costs are a little more than they used to be when it comes to firearms and ammo.

I had a Norinco and didn't like it. I have a Yugo and like it. The sights look wonky but it hits where I aim it at 100 yards or so. That's using the cheesy stell case Russky ammo. It eats it happily.

The right-wingers are notorious control freaks, as if freedom ends at the boundary of their skin.

In my area, we have welfare ranchers who hate the federal government but suck on the tit of the Farm Bill every year. And then, we have the ranchette crowd who purchase a 5-acre split and suddenly think they're the lead character in a John Wayne movie. The suburban cowboys use their monster trucks mostly to transport their asses to Walmart twice a week.

Their common bond is their obsession with guns. It's not enough for them to own them responsibly for hunting and self defense purposes. They've got to obsess about their civil war scenario every time their insurrectionist party loses an election. Some of that is their consumer addiction-- seeking happiness in the next package delivery. But a lot of that is seeking power over the "others", the ones outside the boundaries of their skin.

Control freaks.

Be careful w surplus ammo. I’m sure you probably already know that, but much of it is corrosive.

Adding a peep sight, made a big diff.

Well said. Agreed.

Time and time again we see here across these boards people retreating to the threat of 2a to make up for an inability to respond to words of logic and common sense.

It’s always good to say this every now and then:

Wat is weak.
Wat is a pussy.
Wat can’t defend his thoughts, hiding instead behind memes of others more intelligent than him.
