The VA politician who is sponsoring the senate version of the VA sturmgewehr "ban" has an interesting history. He was called Fighting Joe when he was a prosecutor for getting into a courthouse hall scuffle with a defense attorney. He used it as a campaign "slogan" of sorts. And there's his we-can't-talk-about-her secretary who he knocked up. Ooops. But they keep voting for him, so go figure.


In other news, there's an upper for sale for the AR-10 platform to make it into a 12 gauge. I think we saw a similar mod several years ago to convert the AR-15 to a .410, and that we didn't like it. Regardless:

This guy is a piece of shit, but no one seems shocked. He's been running this hustle since the last millennium. Like a Timex, he takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.
 
What district does he represent? Fairfax? Richmond? Charlottesville?

What are the chances of the governor signing it?

The governor's reaction will be tough to gauge. He's moderate GOP - he had to be to get elected in a purple state. The legislature is barely Dem. The house passed this bill 51-49 on a party line. Like as not, if they iron out the wee differences, they senate will do likewise. I'm not sure this guy has the huevos to veto it. If he does, they can't override it.


Funny thing is, the lt. gov ran as pro gun and still got elected.

I hope she has some input as to the final resolution.

There is a very similar bill pending out here as well. It is going to make it through the house but the senate is up in the air. While the senate is democrat dominated many of the senators are from districts that are quite conservative when it comes to matters like this. A like bill stalled in the senate judicial committee last year with the chairman saying, "We aren't going to use the taxpayers money to engage in kabuki theater."
