Watch Talk

After we are done talking about watches let's switch from Watch Talk to Tic Talk.

I think that wood tics are often ignored in the mainstream media and think of the fantastic thread we could have with every one telling a tic story.

Where was the location where you got your first tic?

I believe this is called 'hijacking' someone's thread . . .

Just a suggestion.

I did stay "after"

Thank you for your suggestion. I would never want to interrupt the free flow of tick tock talk. I said after we finish exploring the topic of chronometers we might find equal intellectual stimulation in talking about tics. Kind of like a spin off TV show. "Star Trek.. the next generation" and all of that.

But I would never want to interrupt the flow of time in a watch thread.

That being said: Anyone have some mickey mouse watch pictures? That would add some depth.

I find Mickey Mouse to be a bit 2 dimensional so there's no real depth to that particular subject.

Friend of mine brought in his little Elgin (6 size in an oversized case) the other day. He says it runs fantastic (it's a 13 jewel that consistently runs +/- 2 minutes per month) but now it won't set the time because it wont switch from winding to setting mode when you pull out the stem.

It needs a new sleeve. The parts are now on order. :)

Any pic of the back?

With and without the watch.

With and without the watch.

I can imagine that you probably let it just sit rather than wind it. The way the watch inserts into the holder probably means you have to take it out every morning to wind it up.

At the time that was probably ok since what people did with their daily wearer was put it into a holder of some sort and wear it again the next day after winding.

Your Sentinel is probably what's called a "dollar watch" these days. If it doesn't run, it can be serviced by someone dedicated to making it run again but the cost will exceed it's value by a lot.

What's the dimensions (diameter and thickness, including glass) of the case?

I've never wound it. It's just groovy looking.

The watch is 1.5" but about 5/8" The glass feels like it could be plastic. I like the font of the numbers.
