Backup!
Backup!
Backup!

We all know this, but I bet we all get lax at some time. I have a machine with three hard drives (two backup drives) so I figured I was pretty safe. I backup from my work drive at least once a week, and to my secondary maybe once a month. Last Tuesday night I got hit with a surge over the phone line. The computer wouldn’t even start on Wednesday! :(

I got it back today. My 160 gig system drive was fried, but my primary and secondary backup drives were OK, or so I thought. My computer now won’t even admit that my primary backup is installed, so everything I have done since the beginning of July may be lost. It goes back into the shop tomorrow.

Moral:
Please backup regularly and frequently!

And on safer media than another hard drive. If they are on the same computer, all it takes is one virus...

I burn all my important stuff on a cd-r (it's only text, so it's not that big) twice a week.

False alarm, everyone go home.

Your master works shoudn't be on your coputer anyway, they should be on paper.

I try to burn my important stuff to CD about once a month--usually takes me three, though.

You've had more than your share of this--sorry to hear it fishy.

And thanks for the reminder. I'm gonna burn my new stuff on a cd.

I think your poetry is hot enough to burn itself.
