I was hoping for a throwaway thread, because I have been seeing Birthday threads celebrating people I don't recognize the names of. I realize I may perhaps be overly punctilious on the point, but I do not take lightly the revelation of someone's real-life name on the boards. To me, you are the Deev. If I were to be told your actual name, I would guard it. Colleen seems to have used her actual name; also Destinee and certain others. That's fine, and I never worry about it. I never knew Perdita's name, though she seemed to like me well enough. Cloudy, Sweetsubsarahh, shereads and several others have confided their names to me, but I don't put those names on the boards.

But when I see a Birthday thread to someone, under their rl name, it leaves me puzzled. It would be lèse majesté to come onto such a thread and ask, who the fuck is this person? So I don't post to it.

I wanted to have an utterly frivolous thread to say this. Who the hell are these people with the happy fuckin birthday, anyhow? Give me the Lit name, and I'm with you, but without it, I am lost.
