Most people on here most of the time are supportive, lovely, often humourous and sexy.
Rarely, but sometimes critical or hurtful, or not responsible things are said.
I am sure "Lit" do their best to monitor and stop this.
Just think we could all help by just thinking twice before sending a critical or retaliatory posting. Yes there is free speech, but there is something chilling and a bit frightening about an unpleasant comment on line, perhaps worse than in a conversation, where things can be settled again, often amicably.

(Being honest in 5 years on here I have only received one unpleasant response, and once posted something I regretted, but have read a few recently directed at other people).

i've highlighted the part which makes me wonder if your medication has been reviewed lately.

I say this in a totally nice way, but you rather prove my point.
I am a disabled person, and do receive medication for a mental condition, and yes it was reviewed last week.

My very best wishes,

Rich.

Well it was in the wrong place, which was a error on my part.
Nobody has hurt my feelings.

I know lots of disabled people, and the very last thing they want is for other people to think their disability should make people consider their feelings - they would much rather be treated the same as able-bodied people.
So, you're a dick

True.

The program I trained in emphasized and insisted on rehabilitating people as far as possible, and its first canon was: GET OVER BEING A CRIPPLE.

I know a man with one leg and no arms. The judge put him in jail to keep him from driving! I've seen the man fill his truck with gasoline and drive it. He has a wonderful attitude about self sufficiency and competence.

I am a dick, because my name is Richard.
Your views on disability I respect, but do not agree totally. It is important to listen to disabled people, as well as stating views about them.
I have worked with disabled people for 8 years, before becoming disabled myself, on two counts. So I too have knowledge and experience, from being and supporting re disability.
Jokes about taking tablets are offensive to me, and I am completely within my rights to say so.

This thread is meant to be about avoiding causing offence on Lit, if you want to give your views on that I would be delighted, the subject has been rather lost.
A short time ago I had to defend someone who was insulted on Lit, it is a minority, but my opinion it is always a risk on line.

You don't post on the General Board very often, do you?

I would be hard pressed to find a finer collection of vultures and jackals. It makes for some good reading. However if you came here to get views about avoiding offence then I wish you luck. The people that tend to post here are usually crude, obnoxious and in some cases downright hateful. There are some gems in the rough though.

Okay listen up my gimpy friend. If you want pleasant pandering bullshit go to the Playground where everybody puts up the facade of being very pleasant people which I assure you they are not. This is the GB where vicious honesty reigns supreme.

Now take your crippled drag queen persona out of here because I assure you nobody here gives a fuck about your tender feelings.

Of course, comments can hurt. If you don't like the General Board then don't post here.

This is the second or third "why are you so mean" thread in a week. Here's a tip, if you want nice, go to the Playground with the rest of the retards.

why? why should we all live in a bland world where we censor everything of interest for fear that some thin skinned fucker will be upset?

laurel is so determined to create your vision of a board that she made the unmoderated gb, where people can call each other whatever the fuck they like without consequences.

i mean this in the nicest possible way... piss off.

dolf (who also works with the disabled. and they fucking love me!)

Well I tried going about the GB doing the happy happy joy joy thing with alot of hugs, but it just didnt work out.

No one wants to be hugged by a random internet gurl.

Someone needs to put up a sign, "Not for the faint of heart."
