downloaded into the bowels of my computer.

and since that is the only thing downloaded, the virus was easy to trace. I had no idea that going to the link made it download into my PC.;....

but now I do.

Virii can only be spread by executable programs. And pics are never "executed" as a program. You need to be wary of files that have extensions such as .exe, .scr, .vbs, .bat, .com, and I've probably missed a couple. But .jpg, .gif, and other pics are completely safe.

Really. Trust me. I'm a Guru, after all.

The images download to "temporary internet files" usually.

I didn't know .jpgs could carry viruses. Was it an animated .gif perhaps? I know they carry them. Some asswipe could be using a virused .gif as a sigline or avatar and those download on your 'puter, too.

I don't know, though, I'm not that literate.
