WARNING computer bug/virus?

This computer has been upgraded and I have 128 mb.

It has 128Mb If it's working correctly.

RAM memory and keyboards are particularly susceptible to static discharge which is very common at this time of the year as heating systems come into use.

Every memory check I could find said the memory in my daughter's computer was good, but when we replaced it anyway, the problems went away. I trtied that stick of memoryin my computer as additional memory, but I took it out when her problems followed it into my computer. I've had it tested at a computer store and their tester says it's good too, but problems like yours follow it around.

If you don't find a definitive answer in anti-virus land, then I'd look real hard at the possiblility you have a stick of unreliable memory.

(PS: Bad video memory can cause the icon problem, but usually not the other problems.)

Thank you again for your help! I'm trying to put my blue lady aside and return to my Halloween av but i am having problems no matter what I do. I was playing Daiblo 2 before and when I finished the icons had all changed again and the system would not work properly.
I haven't opened any strange emails lately especially *shudder* ones with Osama Bin laden attachments/files etc.
WIll check into the memory /static discharge idea. Thanks again for the link.

Here's How To Fix It Debbie

Osama shooting gallery cleverly disguised adware Trojan

Several complaints to newsgroups indicate an adware Trojan created by Twistedhumor.com is being distribued in their popular Yo Mama Osama shooting game. This online game promises a free cell phone booster to players successfull in "taking out" Osama bid Ladin. What they don't realize is they may be "taking in" an adware Trojan that allegedly monitors Internet useage and feeds pop-up advertising to the user long after the game is over. According to complaints, uninstalling Yo Mama Osama removes the game and leaves the offensive adware.

When installing Yo Mama Osama for game play, files specific to the adware Trojan are downloaded and installed on the user's system. These include WNAD.EXE, WNAD.DAT, WNAD-UPDATE.EXE and WNAD.LGC. These files are placed in the Windows folder and a shortcut to WNAD.EXE is added to the Startup folder.

Removing the Adware
Uninstalling the game will not remove the adware Trojan. The following steps should be taken for manual removal.

Press CTRL-ALT-DEL and use End Task to close WNAD.EXE
Browse to the Windows folder and delete WNAD.EXE, WNAD.DAT, WNAD-UPDATE.EXE and WNAD.LGC
Remove the C:\Windows\Wnad.exe value from the following Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Delete the shortcut for WNAD.EXE from the Start | Programs | Startup Folder
In a press release announcing the game, Twistedhumor.com described the "Yo Mama, Osama!" game as a means to raise charitable contributions for the American Red Cross September 11 Fund. What the press release doesn't describe is how that money is being raised. Presumably, since game play is free, the funds are raised through the advertising being surreptitiously slipped to the user. Officials at Twistedhumor.com did not respond to requests for information.

Thanks for that Bob Peale, I haven't downloaded a game or anything similiar with Osama Bin Laden.
The only thing we can think of is stepson says he was surfing and something came up about Yo mama, osama but he didn't download it or anything.
I have no idea how this got into my computer and hubby deleted the folders it had created for itself but there are still glitches.
Does anyone know of a free programme I could run to check my system?
At this rate I am considering reformatting. :(
But I don't know if this would solve the problem or not.

Just for kgboot I have brought my av back!

Almost all of the viruses and trojans out there are created to attack pc's. Trade your computer in for a new Macintosh and you'll eliminate most of the problems. Besides that, they're faster and easier to use.

That is, once you get windoze out of your head.

thanks for the advice xwizard4 but this is a new computer. Damn thing cost enough! Second hand is only the monitor and keyboard. :)
My pc is a homemade one! New components put together very lovingly I have an AMD duron 750 processor. All I know is I want to fix it! *Stomps foot* Ok Im fine. :)

I downloaded the game in question..

I'm having NO problems with it.. and i find NO information anywhere on the net saying it is a Trojan.

I'm not doubting, i'm just wondering where you found this information Bob?

I have no popups.. i beat the game several times. You "win" a cell phone booster. The catch is.. you have to pay like $4.95 shipping and handling, supposedly $1.00 of that goes to New York. I didn't take the offer, because i already have a booster on my cell phone.

I have ungodly huge computer..I run the latest McAfee Virus scan, I have Norton Systemworks and BlackIce Defender. NONE of these programs pick up that i have anything on my computer.

Awww!!!!!!!
