In the first story Sibarium reports:

The sign outside the Marylander Condominiums, a 200-unit complex in Prince George’s County, Md., describes it as a “private community.”
But for members of a homeless encampment in the condo’s backyard, the complex also serves as a crackhouse, a bathroom, and the entrance to an open-air drug market, which has become a magnet for organized crime and caused millions in property damage.

The details disgust. It is a horror show.

In his follow-up, Sibarium reports:

“We’re not criminalizing the unhoused,” police major Thomas Boone said of the encampment at a town hall in January, a statement that put an exclamation point on the reluctance of local law enforcement to deal with the problem.
The county will instead push hundreds of legal residents out of their homes.

I understand your attitude towards the homeless..... it is a complex situation... have you ever had to put up with these people? Live anywhere they have encampments? Have the bathrooms in your business destroyed because of their presence?..... constantly harassing your customers, stealing your retail goods from your store shelves? Or committing crimes....breaking into your cars, stealing anything not welded down ect....and my favorite..... having to step over their shit while walking to your home, business, car grocery store......ect.....

I'm not suggesting that all homeless people are fully upstanding and amazing people.

Empathy is not for everyone.

Can words being used have an impact on solving problems? Yes. When someone has issues with their mortgage and loses their house, they are homeless. Those people likely aren't the ones you're discussing there....but they are homeless.
