I've been posting here for a while and I'm ready to begin writing again. But a lack of confidence, especially when compared to the rest of the writers here, makes me hesitate. Would anyone be willing to read a short story (under 950 words) and give me an honest opinion? ... And a title .... and a category....
Thank you.

Some of us have confidence as writers.

Some of us don't; and are badly hurt by anonymous and the trolls.

Some of us don't have confidence: we have bloody cheek and will inflict anything on the long-suffering readers e.g. the Author's Hangout co-operation to produce "The Worst Chain Story Ever" (and many of my stories. I won't mention my so-called Poetry.)

Some of us experiment and damn the ratings.

Some of us have armoured skin; some are over-sensitive.

When you hit that 'Submit' button you have committed your story to the slings and arrows of the readers. It is a significant step but -

- If the story is unpopular, you might learn from the experience and be better next time.

- If the story is popular, you should have confidence to try again.

- After your submissions reach three figures and someone leaves an unpleasant PC on an older story, you don't even notice. (Unfortunately also true if it's a complimentary PC)

- Practice makes better stories and also hardens the skin against the stupidity of trolls.

You have nothing to lose except your lack of confidence.

Write! Submit it! Write again! Submit it! Enter every competition at least once and compare horror stories with the rest of us.

You can do it. It gets easier after the first 100.

Okay. I'll dress up my little creation in her crinolines, tie ribbons on the ends of her braids and send her out into the big, bad world where she'll either come back crying with skinned knees because the big bullies knocked her down or all smiles because that cute boy said something nice to her. *keeping fingers crossed for more cute boys than bullies*

Your kind comments and your new AV deserve it. *blows a kiss*

I have confidence in you, glynndah!

I am sure you'll do just fine.

I am not one of the better writers on this site by a long shot, but it doesn't stop me from posting stories (LOL).

Jus' crank 'em out, submit 'em and have some fun.

That's what it's all about when you get down to it.

Put me down as a story reader if you don't like what the others have said (grin).

We AH Vending Machine occupiers have to stick together you know.

Good luck and easy writin'.

Peace.

Some of us don't pay attention until we start submitting, and then go crazy waiting for it to be posted and voted on and replied on...

I live for feedback :D

Writem and submitem. :D Try to do a good job but you are doing it because it's fun, so don't worry too much what anon says about it. :)

I'll be polishing my "baby" up this weekend and will submit it early next week. I'll be anxiously awaiting feedback then. So far the PM's have been very helpful and encouraging. Thanks, everyone.

Hang in there!

Hey, as a favor to me, look over the stuff that I've posted and let me know if the three "outlines" that I've done merit writing a story....

Yeah, I know I'm begging for praise, but, if you don't ask....
