A Delightful Surprise To See You Here:D

The First Painting Is By Far My Favorite....The Reds Always Do Me In.

The Birds Are Also Very Interesting..Great Capture;)
Hey RNAB
Thought I would epand my horizons a bit

Thank you
That was a fun painting to do

I just finished a new one and will be posting it soon

I love your photos

DAMN!! You have excellent control of your brushes, pet! o_O

The color, the balance, the delicate brush strokes and the strong linear quality...all make this a great painting. Very different from your previous work, pet. Are you going to continue in this direction?

Edit: Your signature looks great on the painting, and indeed could be part of the general theme.

You mean a painter nearby, who you can train with?

Exactly
For instance, I need advice on the best way to protect it
Part of it is raw canvas (I didn't use any gesso or prep on this painting) and most of it is white
So, do I need a satin varnish, or do I use different varnishes for each aspect...

I realized at this point, I don't want formal lessons because I don't look with my eyes when I paint. I work close, with only a finished message in mind, let things flow, then stand back to see what came out. I don't know if that makes sense...

The above painting started with this concept:

We seek enlightenment outside of ourselves, in the shiny objects, in the light of others (the 'sun'). In reality the compassion (the Sanskrit mantra) is already within us and the light/passion we see is just a distortion of our own, filtered through our experiences (the thin red line in front of the sun). We are the purity (unbleached titatanium) and outside us is sanitized for our protection (bleached titanium). There is more, of course, but you get the idea...

Oh boy, I know what you mean. That was one of the reasons that I hated painting...I'm so freakin clumsy! :D All of those different prepping compounds and varnishes...they can make or break a painting! o_O

I understand exactly what you mean by working close to a painting, and then backing away to view it. I do that even with my drawings.

Yes, I found it inside too...with all of that shiny crap that we see around us, the voices, all of that noisy input, we lose who we are.

I hope you find your mentor soon, Pet. :rose:

Beautiful Painting Pet!

I love the depth to it. It draws me in and I love the abstract. Part of it feels like chaos heading towards fire (only my interpretation based on internal feelings when I see the print!)

Thank you, Kcar
I am amazed at all the varieties of finishes and mediums, retardants...
Now, on to my next painting
Bigger canvas (30"x40")

The last is 24"x36"
