Wand Vibe Cords Breaking

I've gone through 3 different brands of wand vibes this year. The cords bend, then wires are exposed, they spark or stop connecting and the things die. I also tried the Acuvibe rechargeable little wand, but it doesn't hold a charge long enough and it needs hours to recharge. It won't work while plugged in either.

About 10 years ago I had a wonderful wand vibe that would operate plugged into the wall like a Hitachi, so it was really strong. (I'm hard to please and do need that much power) BUT, it also had a rechargeable battery and could run with the cord completely detached. This avoided wear and tear on the cord. It was the best of both worlds. If the battery ran down, I could just plug it in and carry on. I can't remember the name of the brand and I've never seen one like it since. Can anyone direct me to a similar model?

Thanks

Sorry, i am no help, but will be interested in any replies you get.

(I have also burned up more than one hitachi wand via the cord)

I apologize before making my comment. And I know shoddy products on the market today are a serious problem, but from a man’s point of view, your post is amusing.

Just the thought of a woman burning up a vibrator, a man has got to think: God, she must be one hella’va woman!

Sorry about the bad joke.

Heh. Actually, vibes in general tend to die after a few years. I've killed at least 3 of them over the past 10 years.

Is it possible the way you're using it is putting undue strain on the cord?

Because my Hitachi cord is just fine after years of heavy use and plenty of travel. We keep it plugged into the power strip right next to the bed though, so there's almost never any strain on the cord. We always travel with an extension cord for it, too, so again, the cord doesn't get stretched.

Have you tried making sure the cord always has plenty of slack on a well-made vibe like the Hitachi? If not, that should probably be your next step. Keep your receipt and box so you can get it replaced if it breaks within a year (my first one burned up, perhaps from overuse, but the replacement they sent has been perfect).

I don't know any possible answers for your opening post, but I have had a similiar problem.
When I left my ex-husband, I woke him up at 8 a.m., told him I was leaving him and my movers (my family) were on the way, and that I was filing for divorce. When he saw my oldest brother, he invited him out onto the yard. I got into a verbal arg ument with my ex. One of the last things I said to him was that he could be replaced by a machine. Now, I know it was a childish comment. I didn't have a thing packed and I was leaving forever. By 2p.m., I was in my new apartment. So...
About a week in my new apartment, I was masturbating with my wand vibrator and it broke in half. I had the wires from inside of it on my stomach while it was still plugged into the wall! The only thought that went through my mind is that I was going to die and be found in that position. I quickly scrambled out from the wires and unplugged it as fast as I could. Afterward the initial shock wore off, two thoughts went through my mind, 1) Damn, I didn't get off before it broke! 2) God just got even with me for saying that my ex could be replaced by a machine. Now I have no ex or machine. Damn!
It is still one of my funniest sex moments and it happened when I was by myself.:D

I always like reading what you have to say... Personally, I'm going to have to do my homework on the wand thing. I have three favorite toys and none of them are wands...
Maybe it's time to go shopping.

Power cords are easy to replace, so there's no reason to throw out a vibrator if it still has a good motor. Or maybe I'm the only one who regularly takes apart her vibrator and ponders how to improve it. And designs numerous sex toys from scratch.

:) you may be one of the only people out there that ponder it. With the possible risk of being too out there .. what did your designs from scratch look like?

How easy is it to access the mountings inside the chassis of a vibrator? I haven't looked to fix one but are they moulded chassis that are pain to open (or impossible) or can one do it without risking destroying the unit?

If the OP lived closer I would offer to put my services to use .. oddly enough I even have cords laying around that could be used (well they weren't meant for vib repair but something about it just seems much more noble of a cause and I would totally donate) .. who says engineering/tech can't be fun.

Here's one design.
Here's my magic wand repair thread.
Several floggers
Cuffs

Repair depends entirely on the vibrator. The magic wand is screwed together, but many cheap ones are glued or sonic welded. Sometimes you can get them open without breaking them, but it's a risk.

Cool! The photos are dead in the wand repair but the rest looks neat. I have a feeling the wand repair would be the only one I'd have any sort of luck. You seem to have quite a bit of talent all over the place though, wish I had that!
