WAKE UP MODERATORS!! Someone Explain Pic Loss

that a moderator would create a thread on here saying why these pics are being deleted, you're all driving us nuts

we understand the guidlines
but even pictures of just a naked breast are being deleted

we, as users...want an explanation!!!

This thread is the cyber equivalent of stomping your feet and acting like a petulant child.

Perhaps if you tried to contact them the adult way, they'd be more inclined to respond...although I wouldn't blame them if they didn't.

You also might want to keep in mind that as the pureyors of a free site, they don't owe us an explanation...they don't owe us a damn thing.

The "funny" thing is that is you take a look at the very top of the web page is that you see three banners which i presume must be sponsors of Lit.

The first is Electronic Frontier Foundation
Next is National Coalition Against Censorship
Lastly there is Free Speech Coalition

Now maybe what you should do is just email them and let them know what is going on at Lit.....

those banners don't mean a damn thing - those free speech banners are everywhere on the internet and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to post it on a website as long as you know basic HTML or just copy the code from that specific banners website into the coding for your website - i seriously doubt that it matters much to them, considering that lit has posted guidelines on what can and cannot be posted....the worst that one of those groups would do is email the owners and voice their opinion - they don't have much pull power

...but it comes down to "if you don't like it, no one is making you stay"

EXACTLY!!!! no one reads the fine print on anything (ran into that problem with customers at my old job demanding we help them with a problem when the fine print clearly stated that we were not responsible) - hey I don't read the fine print either, but everything is there that you need to know and there is no way around it

apparently it isnt the mods taking the pics its techy fault ....just thought id share

two of my favs went and they didnt even show a thing so people can either repost or move on im sure it will all be sorted soon

like storyteller just posted on the OTHER 'bitch' thread about pics disappearing....this problem appeared on another site run by vBulletin and apparently the problem was fixed when the new version of the software was installed - people just need to learn you shouldn't automatically assume its one thing cause more than likely it will turn out to be something else...

Ahhhh a tech fault......well then it could take a year to fix....techies seem to work at their own pace......sit around and play video games for most of the day and work for 30 mins....but just let something go wrong in a techies office and they fix it in 10 seconds

but why not just tell us what the deal is?

so that people don't waste thier time posting pics that will disappear.

1. pics are disappearing because they don't meet the rules

2. pics are disappearing and we don't know why, we're having technical problems

1. the people who like resolve and get frusterated when things aren't going the way they have always been, and need to speak up about it

2. people who are the opposite, idiots who look for the smallest thing that might seem like "whining" and try to jump all over it to make them seem supirior, i've seen a couple of the people who did that in this thread...do it in others

any time someone says something that sounds the least bit whiney, they jump all over it because they need to make themselves look good

so if your post isn't a resolve to a question asked, then maybe you should keep quiet

I've been pretty sure the pics weren't being removed by the Mods, since much of what has disappeared has been within the rules, and some of what has stayed up seems to violate them. I don't know if it is a tech problem or if the site is being hacked or what. While I understand that the Mods don't 'owe' us anything, it would have been nice if they'd at least say "Yes, we know there's a problem, it isn't deliberate, and we're looking into it." After all, they have an interest in the ongoing success of Lit (they wouldn't volunteer to moderate if they didn't), and that success depends in some measure on keeping the Litizens informed.

The other thing to remember is when you have an online system that is up 24x7 there is very little time to do upgrades that require taking servers down.

Have you noticed response has been slower lately? I worked in IT since servers were steam powered and the traditional down time is...between Christmas and New Years and that is up and down the whole huge Internet.

If it's a bug, tech problem or whatever, cut the lit floks some slack. It's a hell of a big job keeping a site this up.

i'm starting to think it's not a "rules" problem either
but i'd like to know...a lot of people don't have much time to sit around and post pics all day, and for those who really take that time out to do so and get thier pics removed after a long time of image rezizing and uploading...it sucks for them

Any chance that one of these spam thread starters might be a hacker who is hacking Lit and deleting pics???

Just wondering, i'm no IT expert or hacker, so i dont know how easy/hard this is to do
