Waiting time for edited stories to be posted

Can anyone tell me how long the current waiting time is for a story to be posted? if a new story is submitted whilst an edited story is waiting for publication will the new story's publication be delayed?

Imagine a piece of string and determine how long it is.

2-4 weeks.

Current waiting time is 2 - 4 days for new stories, and as @Bazzle says, 2 - 4 weeks for an edit.

A new story shouldn't be affected by an old story getting an edit. Two different processes, two different queues.

I have an edited story that has been waiting for almost three weeks and am wondering if posting a new story with the edited story waiting in front of it will delay publication of the new one. I didn't make that clear. Sorry

The classic 'It Depends'. In general, stories submitted by new authors take longer; presumably, they get closer scrutiny. Edited stories take much longer, regardless. Stories submitted when there is a formal contest going on tend to take longer, regardless.

The short answer is "no". Submitting a new story when you have an edited story pending should not delay publication of your newer story. Stories enter the queue in the order submitted and in my experience are published in the same order.

The long answer is it depends upon several things. I've had an edited story published in the same 2-3 day time frame after submission as a new story. If you're a new author it might take longer. It also depends upon the reason for the edit. If you made the edit because of a rejection, it might take longer based upon the reason for the rejection.
