I'd like to try to keep this as an active thread about waist training. It doesn't get discussed a whole lot around here, but it's a topic that is of great interest to me.

After many months of waiting I have finally got a corset that is suitable for daily tightlacing, and I've been doing it daily for a week. I'm up to about 10 hours of the day, and I'm adding corseting to more and more of my leisure time (rather than just working hours). Right now I'm working on mental preparation for sleeping in it; I have trouble sleeping normallly so I'm trying to conquer fears that I won't be able to while corseted. Next weekend I will probably try taking a midday nap while laced and see how that goes.

I am doing this largely on my own. It was a longstanding interest that I never acted on for a long time; I knew I was terribly turned on by seeing and wearing corsets, but I didn't do much about it. In January my Daddy mentioned wanting me to wear one daily and I jumped on the idea and ran with it! But of course we are long distance, and while wearing the corset makes me feel closer mentally, the practical stuff is still solo! My wife has mostly just been amused by it, but she's been happy to help lace me up if I ask (I can tighten my main one alone but I still struggle with tying the knot; my longline corset I still need help with all the way). In terms of personal waist training interest, though, neither my Daddy nor my wife share the interest as deeply as I do.

I'm attaching pictures of both my daily wear and my longline; I will end up switching between them more often after I get better with lacing myself into the longline but for right now I can't ask my wife to help me every morning! I also don't get as much reduction out of the longline (it's just not as well made, bah) so the daily wear one is better. In the picture of the daily wear one, though, it was the first time I'd put it on so the reduction isn't as much as I'm wearing on a regular basis.

I will watch your thread with interest. I take it you want to make your waist smaller like that lady you showed us on a web site in the corset thread, right?

Frankly it sounds a bit scary.

Good luck and thanks for sharing.

Warm smiles.

Sorry Etoile I do not have any advice to give, but I enjoyed the pics. You loook great and wish you luck on your training. I am also looking forward to learning a bit about this so thank you for starting the thread.

I use to be so turned on by seeing the old westerns saloon girls....they always had that corset thing going on and it always got my attention. There was always one scene or another where a lady was being helped down off a coach or something and the man's hands seem to just wrap around her whole waist and pick her up and set her gently on the ground.

TY

Tight

Long ago there waS AN ASSISTANT AT "THE GAUNTLET" piercing studio in Los Angeles that was really into corsetting. She had her waist small enough that I could almost circle it with my hands. I don't remember her name or know what became of her but she was HOT!

I don't remember what thread that was unfortunately! If it was someone like Cathie Jung or Ethel Granger or Spook, all of whom have/had waists in the 13-15" range, then I am not going for quite that much. I am definitely aiming to reduce my waist but I'm not trying to set any records. I'm also not going for something dramatic like this, but rather just a clearly defined shape

Many people don't realize that thousands of people are wearing corsets every day around the world, many of them 23/7! (That hour off is usually a shower and maybe some exercise.) Men wear corsets as well as women, though nowhere near as frequently. There is a large tightlacing community on the web, and when I say I'm doing this alone I don't mean to leave out the people I've met online who are also into corsetry. And yet because of the physical (i.e. not virtual) nature of this I am having to judge my own progress. But it's not as uncommon or shocking as people may think, despite what it seems at first. :)

It was Cathie Jung.

The thing that scares me is that I have heard about problems breathing and other health problems.

You are so lovely, I'd hate for you to have such problems. You are also smart and know a lot more about it than I do. So, I'm sure you are taking care of yourself.

This is totally off the menu for me, as moving my intestines around seems like an incredibly BAD idea given my health history. I'm more like 7/24 on occasion and that's it.

My sissy, H however is getting into it. He's using a vollers just to get used to wearing something, but I've told him he's got to get himself a custom trainer before xmas.

I'm really interested in the degrees of commitment. The links at www.lovesickcorrectiveapparel.com are a great read.

No advie here. I'm just a major fan of corsets and how feminine appearing they are on women.

Etoile, I am curious, are you going for the hourglass look or the wasp waist?

I am not a fan of the wasp waist myself because I am not fond of the disproportionate look.

corset

Hi ive always wanted to get into corsets, so if anyone has any advice and where to get them from and what not, id love to hear from you.

I'm just going to follow this thread and perv over you in the corsets ;)

Joe what is a wasp waist?

Right now I am going for an hourglass shape; I like looking at historical pictures including waspies, but for myself I prefer a smoother (proportionate!) look.

Also, Miss Diva, I don't have access to pictures right now, but I can kind of describe it for you. An hourglass shape is just what it sounds like - an hourglass is equally proportioned on top and bottom, and the sand flows through a more narrow passage in the middle. A wasp waist, on the other hand, looks king of like a wasp's body - really pinched in the middle with full hips and usually a full torso.

I find this interesting and hope to hear and see more of how it goes, Etoile. I'm sure you make sure that you stay healthy (exercise for the stomach muscles comes to mind). :)

Oh, no, there's nothing like that! There are a lot of myths out there about corseting, and they are just that - myths. If a corset if worn properly the health implications are virtually nil (except with pre-existing conditions, as Netzach mentioned). There's some info on corsetsand health here if you want to check that out.

I can totally understand avoiding something like this for health reasons. I love how you said "just using a Vollers." :) If H is to get a custom by Xmas you should order it pronto, but if it's just that he should order it by Xmas that gives plenty of time to find a good one. house of Worship and Meschantes both make goodd training corsets, but they are for female bodies...has he found someone to make a custom male corset? (Unfortunately the differene in body shape necessitates acknowledging maleness...which isn't always fun for transwomen and sissies, but such is life.) There's a great trans photo gallery at Romantasy.com - if H hasn't seen it already, he might enjoy it. :)

I can try to give some advice... :)

I guess the first two things to ask are: what are your goals, and what is your budget? If you mean you want to do daily tightlacing, you will probably pay about $200+ for a quality custom daily-wear corset. If you're looking for something to wear for special occasions or during sceneing and you want more than just the plastic-boned Frederick's type, you can probably get a decent steel-boned off-the-rack corset for $100-150. (Meschantes often has sales on eBay in this price range.)

If you have other specific questions, lay them out and I'll do my best!

Yeah, I can't imagine wearing a corset, sometime I can't even wear pants - they hurt me.

I love corsets, but only have two.

I got married in one and have only worn in once since. Its ornage velvet and hand made for me :)

The other is a short lace up kind, but neither are suitable for waist training.

Etoile your daily wear corset is lovely.

I know very little about waist training other than to see on somesites that a particular type of corset is not suitable for waist training.

I have been told of a place near where my sister lives that sells corset at a reasosnable price, so may visit after Christmas to see if I can afford one.

I really like the hour glass figure look, but I have large breasts in comparision to the rest of me. Not really sure how to get an hour glass figure or if a wasp figure would suit my build better.

Etoile how do you work out what will suit someone best and are there different training corsets to help achieve different looks?

I play somthing called a LARP (Live action role playing) it has a medieval set theme. The character I play wears a corset and I find it incredibly sexy and love the attention it gets me. I have three and find that the ones with more boning are more comfortable. Corsets are not supposed to hurt but rather you should slowly adjust it to suit your needs. I wear my corset for 72 hours at a time and am incredibly comfortable in it. Good luck.

I love corsets and really would like to start wearing them. I know my Sir loves them too. My question is that I'm a larger size woman and I want to know if corset wearing helps promote weight loss? How many inches of play is in a corset? How uncomfortable are they? Are full corsets better then waist cinchers or is that a matter of preference?

I have looked at bunches of them online and really want one. I just don't know if I should wait till I reach my goal weight next year or start now.

I'm not a skinny person myself, and I am perfectly comfortable in a corset. I prefer a full corset to evenly smooth out my imperfections, I have tried on a cincher and found it pushed me in directions I didn't find flattering.
Good Luck

A corset promotes weight loss because you simply can't eat as much when you're wearing one. Most tightlacers (daily wearers) eat five or six small meals a day rather than three large ones. I also find that having the corset on reminds me not to snack even if it's something small. So it does help with weight loss, but it's still a mental thing - you have to remember not to eat too much, because otherwise you will end up with really bad heartburn!

I'm not sure what you mean by "inches of play" - if you mean how expansive it is while on, the answer is "not much." You can take a deep breath but not a really deep one. This is for steel boned corsets, by the way - anything that has spandex or something else stretchy will expand more, but it's not as high quality and definitely not recommentded for daily wear.

I would say that corset type is a matter of preference. Personally, I prefer underbusts; I like to wear a bra with mine. Waist cinchers are fine too; they are shaping only the waist rather than also shaping the ribcage and hips as well. I personally don't like overbusts.

If a corset is worn properly, it is definitely comfortable. It takes some getting used to, of course, but if it fits right and you've put it on right it's quite comfortable. In fact if it's uncomfortable, something is probably wrong!

I think it is really a matter of personal preference. There are corsets that are intended for training because they are a boring fabric/color, and something that won't be easily ruined by such regular use. Examples (I think I mentioned these before?) are the Meschantes training corset and this one from House of Worship, but any corset can be used as part of a waist training regimen, so it's just the wearer's preference for shape. There's some good information and pictures on waist training here at Romantasy.

I love the idea of this! And the corsets you have shown in the two pics are wonderful. Where did you get them, if you don't mind my asking?

Oh he was going to order from Meschantes. I got the impression she works with a lot of men on corseting and she has a men's style I believe. I can't believe the good prices at Meschantes and House of Worship -- you pay more for off the rack. I've been checking Romantasy too I just don't like their site navigation lol.
