In one of our tabloids today we have the following story:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2007390579,00.html

Now I'm sue that most of the corset guru's on here will have already heard of Cathie Jung but it is the first time I have seen her. I must say her waist looks amazing (and so too does she) - personally too small for my taste but amazing non the less.

I'd happily take off about 10" off my current waist size but I'd still be a good few inches bigger than 15 ;) (the rest of my vital stats are not that much different to hers)
What do you think too small or gorgeous?

ETA: just a bit of extra trivia - Victoria Beckhams waist is 22", my 11 yr stick insect daughters' bigger than that!

For me, that is waaaay too small. I'd be concerned that if I bent her over a little too far for a caning, she'd snap off at the waist and be wasted.

I can tell you that when I'm at peak weight (which at the moment I'm about 15-ish # over, so lacing is so not happening right now), if I get smaller than 24", the hip to waist ratio gets to a place where it's just too freaking wonky (IMO) to be attractive - when I weigh 130, I can safely (over time) waist train my figure to 36/24/39. At that point, it was difficult to find modern clothing that fit my hip to waist ratio, which contributed to my decision to stop lacing every day, which contributed to gaining @ 15#, which meant my corset no longer fit.

That's about the figure I had in mind too. But if I were to waist train myself; although my stats would read 39,24,39 I'd be completely stuffed clothes wise as I have a hollow back and to get anything to fit my waist and hips is nigh on impossible even now!

No I don't think its attractive in the slightest. Its far too small for my liking.

The trick to dressing at that point becomes cute tops and full skirts (or fill skirted wrap dresses), but you have to be careful with skirts that are meant to sit on the hips/have a wide panel across the hips, as they tend to measure for a less curvy hip than corsetting allows.

I might revisit it when my weight gets back to where I want it, but I think I've pretty much shelved tightlacing except for special occasions... from a frustrated with wardrobe issues, if nothing else. LOL

Full skirts work! As do longer tops; to hide the massive arm sized gap at the waist band - but that would negate the point of the tight lacing in the first place, probably best I don't bother too! :D

She looks deformed....

Sorry...she just does to me.

to me, too.

but i'm not going to apologize for it!

i don't think that teeny tiny waists are 'in' right now anyways - i bet she looks deformed to more people than she looks good to.

i DO think it's neat that she modified her body though.

Sorry, it looks totally grotesque to me, and I have to wonder if it is even healthy. LOL, I certainly am not a fan of what passes for shapely in today's fashion and which to me looks almost straight up and down and boyish, but that is going too far. I love my daughter's shape

which is curvaceous and in the style of the Hollywood star days where women had curves with boobs and hips and definate waistlines....and I envy she has such a small waist without the use of corsets being laced tight, not to mention being envious of her racks of corsets in every colour and fabric!! It's not fair!! :D

Sort of a domino effect!

She looks like a cartoon character to me. <shrug>

The angle created by that extreme a hip to waist ratio is not attractive to me in the least.

Yes, but where are Cathie Jung's internal organs? I think that is a far more pressing question.

:D

Catalina, your daughter is stunning.

I have to agree with everyone. Catalina, your daughter is beautiful.

As for Cathie Jung, well, to me she looks awful. Extremely disproportionate.

Ignoring the waist, she looks incredible for 70.

I might just see that picture in my nightmares tonight, however.

The look of corsets and tightlacing is generally very attractive to me, but only to the point where it still resembles a body. When it comes to any type of modification, once the person ceases to resemble a fairly healthy human being, I'm no longer physically attracted to them.

*sick* That picture seriously disturbs me. That is just disgusting, totally disgusting... it's not the least bit pretty at all. *shudders*

And Catalina, your daughter is beautiful! and sexy!

Yes, it's very rare to see someone or something that beautiful while on my first cup of coffee. Thank you for sharing her.

Your daughter is lovely to mirror what others have said. Now Ms Jung...grotesque. I adore corsets and have several but her shape is not attractive nor is it healthy.

I think Cathie Jung's waist is pretty. But then, I am a fan of body modification. That's what she has really done - when you take it that far, it's not 100% about the shape, it's also about simply making the modification. And as spook has shown, it is reversible - I believe she was down to 14" but she quit tightlacing and last I knew she was at 19" or 20". Cathie is perfectly healthy, because she's defined a new normal for herself. A lot of people get their panties in a bunch about it but it's not really a big deal if that's how you live your life. She's 70 years old and in good shape, what more can you ask for?

Dude, I prefer looking at that to photos of dicks that have been forked and freshly bleeding, nipplectomies, nullifications female and male, digital amputations. On the grand scale of modification this is just one of many, and I don't find it problematic. It's not something I'm going to run out and try, it's not something I think a lot of people are.

I dunno- there's something nastily insectile about her appearance. There's a reason they say "wasp waist".
A nicely cinched-in waist in a corset looks lovely... this is more than a bit too much. If I were her hubby, I'd be scared I'd break her if I were to be on top.
