my fun starts next week.

i've managed to get flights, accomodation, lift pass boots and board hire for a one week snowboarding holiday in Banff Canada for a royal price of £550 or $885 american dollors.

next saturday cant come around quick enough.

i have only reservation for the whole holiday and thats that i have never done a long haul flight before (9 1/2 hours ) and i suffer from slight claustraphobia. anyone know of any hints and tips (apart from drinking myself till i pass out for the flight)

or if anyone has actually been to Banff before and has any recomendations on where to go?

(heli boarding is top of the agenda so far followed by a dog sleigh ride)

please exscuse my smugness :D :p

You took care of my and p_p_'s advice, so we can be of no further assistance in this matter.

the option is so appealing as the free drink availiable will try and lure me into a false sense of security but my good side says no sit there bored like a plank of wood instead :D

i hear tho that canadian whiskey is some of the finest on the other side of the atlantic so i will have to get aquainted at some point :D

I, too, hate long flights. I've taken many 10 hr flights back & forth to the UK. They usually serve a couple of meals, offer a couple of full length movies and turn the lights out for a couple of hours to make you think about sleeping.

I get very antsy and find that walking around several times helps. Having a book that you're REALLY interested in helps pass the time also. Take your shoes off and wear the little socks they give you. MAKE YOURSELF as comfy as possible. I wouldn't advise drinking yourself into oblivion -- that could actually enhance your claustrophic tendencies. Drink lots of water instead to counteract the dryness and swelling -- besides, you'll have to get up and walk around more to use the restroom. :D

Concentrate on all the fun you're going to have at your destination and the flight should speed along. Good luck!

i am intreguied(sp) they give you socks?

after my 5 hr coach trip to gatwick im not sure they want me removing my shoes hahaha:D

Socks

Well, let's see, British Airways gives the little socks in a packet with eye shades and a toothbrush with tiny toothpaste -- there might be more, but that's all I can remember. They also like to hand out orange juice before takeoff and bring you around hot moist towels to freshen up with. I can't remember whether Continental does similar things and those are the only two airlines I've flown to Europe on. Which airlines are you flying?
