I do realise how busy Laurel is with everything so I hope maybe I can ask for advice without suggesting more work for her...

I do have a few stories that I wrote before finding Literotica.. and I have a couple that I have written or am in the process of writing since I've found this wonderful place.. the thing is... I'm so antsy to submit them.... but I totally realize the need for editing and the protocal for asking assistance from an editor...

but... I have sent out between 7 and 10 requests (asking very humbly and politely) to vol. editors with only a response from two... 1 of which is working on a story as we speak (SMOOCH! thank you thank you thank you!) what i was wondering is if the other editors were just overwhelmed with work, maybe not interested in the genre of my story, or maybe even not accepting any more stories at all??

Is the vol editors list updated? And checked for those editors which may or may not be active still? Maybe there should be a way to put a little flag by the editors name to let people know that they are momentarily not accepting any more stories?

Its just kind of flusterating to need help with editing and not really be able to find it....

*sighs* I apologise in advance if I sound like a whiny butt.....

Ah... On occasion, I've had volunteer editors drop out of the program for schedule reasons (which is absolutely fine - I'm grateful for any amount of time they spend helping writers), but they usually write me and ask to have their name removed from the list. If you (or any other writer) email an editor and they don't respond, please let me know. I will then write them to verify they still are with the program, and if they don't respond to me then I'll remove them from the list. I don't want to have a list of inactive editors - that's not very helpful..!

Kitten, send me one short story, and I'll edit it for you. (Beware, I am honest and picky.)

I'm no longer on Laurel's official list (due to time constraints) however, my story is lagging and I have some time. Catch me quick before the plot picks up again...

<winks>

Thank you Whispersecret.. of course I had considered you from the beginning but from your posts I could tell you were really bogged... I appreciate the chance to send you something ... and look forward what ever remains you leave me *chuckles*

check your mail :) I got one on the way!

thank you Laurel.. I appreciate everything you do here... I'll see if I can still find my list of who I emailed

I'm one of the newer vol. eds., Tinman. Read my blurb, and if interested send me a story. I'm fast (two, three days at most) and I'm thorough. I've edited two other stories now, and I think I've done a good job.

Well I dunno what's wrong with me but I have been a Volunteer Editor from the get-go and I have only had a few stories come my way. Are there some bad rumors going around that I don't know about? I swear, I shower, I don't have any communicable diseases, and it has never taken me more than a few days to edit a story.

Now that I've whined cuz no one has sent me anything, don't all bombard me at once. I just started a new job which is taking up a lot of my time, but if someone sent me a story, I would take a look at it.

Same here - when I first posted as a volunteer editor, I got a bunch of requests.. then nothing. Maybe the sorting end sup folks just hitting up the newest sign-ups?

But, I'm available if anyone needs and editor.

Please check the date on a thread before offering to edit for someone!

Lynn - I was more commenting on how, when first signing up as a volunteer editor, you get a rash of requests. Then, after the first few weeks those requests die off almost completely it seems.

On the flip side, there are probably folks sending requests to volunteers who are no longer here, or just don't respond. So finding an editor can seem like a needle in a haystack, while being an editor feels like being that needle.

Don't have a real answer, other than referring to the monthly "available to edit" thread.. though I tend to forget to post there. But if I get a PM, it goes to my email, so I know to come check and respond.

My comment was to everyone, not you specifically, which is why I didn't quote your post. :)
