Living next door to you (in South Carolina), I speak fluent redneck! Found the microphone, now all I gotta do is figure out how to record something with it...

I know where the mic is, (my girl has been using it for her foreign language lessons to get her pronunciation just right,) I'm just not sure how to do this thing or what the freak to say if I did.

With my husband's help I did manage to get the sound working and the sound files heard today. I'd say everyone so far has excellent voices but do the sound bites have to be so short.

Fury :rose:

KC for some reason yours won't work here :(

Ohh he is the Captain I know of a large Ship . To me you sound just like him Shyguy although he is Norweigan. I was shocked because I had no preconceived idea what your accent may have sounded like. Its been a few years since I have been in Europe. :)

Well if he's Danish as well, it isn't a surprise to me if our accents are alike ;)

Urmmmmmmmm sorry Shyguy I just did an edit to my post as you replied. He is Norweigan. Is there much similarity between the two accents to you may I ask ?

KC helped me fix my speakers, so I got to hear everyone (except for SpectreT, because for some reason that one didn't work). :)

The strange thing, is that everyone sounds like they sound, in my head.

And I still have no microphone thingie, so the odds of ever hearing my voice are about nill. ;)

It depends on what "version" of Norwegian he speaks. There's the "old" norwegian which is very close to Danish, I think you can compare it to English vs. American. The "new" Norwegian is more different though. And it also depends on what region of Norway he's from.

I will ask him when I see him early in the New Year ..... :) I am guessing your first option he is in his early 60's and x Navy.

Ohh ShyGuy remember this I refuse to listen again made me ill enough when we did this in June......

computer will go into the shop in the morning for a little "fix up" - Shanks voice will be posted sooner or later. Deal with it.

Cutie... if you have it, open up Apple QuickTime, then try to play T's recording. Windows Media Player doesn't support that particular sound format, I think it's intended for iTunes.

Long Post Alert!

First, I'll take a bow...

Thank you as well. If it's not obvious, I've been trying to break into radio for a while, but the local stations don't even look at you without a degree and at least four years of on-air experience. :( As to the accent, actually, here in Central New York State, we have close to the official unaccented American pronunciation and tone - some minor variations, like how we pronounce "orange" (AWrnj, in case anyone was wondering), but close to what's considered baseline.

Now a comment;

Okay, okay... for those of you with a burning desire to know what I sound like (since you already know what I _look_ like!), here you go:

Enjoy!
...Somehow, that's exactly what I thought you'd sound like. Cool beans.

Finally, on to technical difficulties:

I could not get Spectres but KC your voice is very soft and beautiful.

Unlikely that my voice will show up here, I am too shy for that

but I admire those who have shared, both here and in the dark room. It is good to put a voice to the posts :)

as per my original post:

Note: this file appears to require iTunes to play. Windows users, right click, click "Open With" and select iTunes, and you should be okay. Otherwise you'll get some business about windows being unable to open the file. Probably because the only voice recording software I could find on my Mac was for making podcasts, and the export features are a little squirrely.

Another note: you may need to crank the volume a bit, as it played very quietly on the Windows machine I tested it on.
...I forgot to mention that QuickTime might be able to pick it up, too.

RealPlayer opened it for me btw.

Sounding great everyone. I had something recorded once upon a time, but not sure if it survived a computer crash. I'll see if I can come up with something later.

Why not

What a great idea.

I’ll record something and post it when I have a little more privacy than I do now. I have heard my recorded voice on numerous occasions and believe me it is nothing special.
