Looking for suggestions on an app to be able to voice chat, or use a different phone number to make calls with. Not comfortable giving out my personal information. So I thought I would turn to the experts.

Skype and Google Hangouts would be the best. kik automatically puts a camera on, so not the best idea. Good luck and I wish I was the lucky guy. :)

Go with Skype, all you'd need is wifi or a data connection.

Skype has become a data hog recently, as in an hour long convo will take up the better part of a gig.

Hey sweetie :rose: you could always buy a pay as you go sim card that works on your mobile network and just swap it over if he wants to chat to you. So that way you don't have to give out your own number. Or Skype, if that's the way you want to go. Hope you are doing well girl? xx

Skype has been my go-to for this for a long time. Integrates well with most smart phones, and the desktop app is strong as well.

Burner phone?

Buy a "Burner phone" ....cheap . Pay as you go .Delete calls if you want . Call me & I'll tell you more ! ;)

Have talked on Google Hangouts and it's works great. Let me know we can play.

I prefer Kik for voice and face to face cam but only after really getting to know someone. If the camera on Kik bothers you just dim the lights and be "mysterious" with your camera angles! :D
Plus it's free and easy to use.

Got a Google phone number that you can call/text with through Hangouts. Works exceptionally well, and would accomplish your goal.

Depends on what you are looking for and if you are willing to spend any money on it.

You can get a full skype phone number unlimited text/calls in the US for pretty cheap.

Google Voice isn't everything that it used to be.

WhatsApp is another option as is Discord if you aren't looking for an actual phone to phone type connection. Discord is really popular with gamers right now so as to avoid Doxing etc.

You've obviously never travelled to the Americas....the alleged lands of freedom & democracy, and monopoly cell plans.

Here we can't trade SIM cards, you buy a locked phone to a locked plan, to a locked network. It's actually pretty bad. Except parents keep funding their kids phone plans as a cheaper alternative to nanny's.....

I'd almost feel bad for the th'd drift if I thought the OP would show up again. I'm guessing she won't.
