VirtualDub-Dvix question

I have an avi file which plays really jerky. The sound is fine but the picture is like stop-n-go slowmo. I tried to process it with VD. Warning: the file is hacked-VD might crush.

The processing begins; the estimated processing time grows and grows-I aborted when it hit 3 hour mark. This is ridicurous for a clip less than three minutes long!

I checked its property. It's reportedly compressed with Divx4. However, the property reports to me the use of unknown compressor. Also, data rate per second for this avi was set to 153kb (I assume default for Divx4 is 910kb/sec)

Is there a way to fix this avi?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a link to the AVI? I can see if I can fix it with VirtualDub or maybe something else.

No link. I downloaded from a news group.

There was, however, shorter preview version (How kind of the ripper!) It's 462kb x 14files. How fast is your connection?

If you don't mind, I'll PM you where you can find it.

My connection is fast enough :)

Go ahead and PM.
