Virtual Erotic Book Club--Any Interest?

Has anyone here tried to form an on-line book club focused on erotic literature? I suppose that the review forum here on Lit kind of qualifies, but I was thinking something more like a traditional book club where the members agree to read a particular work over a particular period of time and then discuss their opinions, reactions, etc.

Seems that Lit is a natural forum for such a group, but I haven't seen a thread that matches this description...do they exist elsewhere on the Web? Or is it contrary to the rather anarchic and unstructured nature of Lit posters?

im down! i don't know if i am a good critic of erotica, but am willing to give it a shot.

Coolest thing on lit in days.

Thanks, :) Skye

Ohhh, this would be interesting...

Not sure if I have what it takes either but I would love to try..

Suggests Emma Holly for first selection. you can get her on Amazon UK and USA. will post a book selection if everyone is interested. her stuff is amazing.

I'm reading a couple of 19th Century Erotica novels right now.......they are kind of interesting!

Got any particular titles of Emma Holly to recommend? Or should I try to invest in her entire oeuvre?

no not the entire oeuvre...lol she has many books and short stories, some with a BDSM kick, so i don't know if many will be into that. i have only read some of her short stories so thats why i am interested in her larger works. here is her booklist with some brief descriptions, so maybe we can take a look and decide as a group. My choices would be Menage and also Cooking up a Storm. both i have heard were good books. I wouldn't recommend Beyond Innocence nor Beyond Seduction ( more of traditional romance not erotica)

be forwarned, her novels are very hot, and very erotic with women, because she includes romance and seduction in addition to the kink. some peoples cup of tea, not others.

Question: are we going to read the books as a group and then come back with our observations, i mean how does this work in concept and reality on a bulletin board?

Hassah! i'm interested, but i think there should be a link to the passage or chapter or book here, so it's easy acess.

i read a few EXCELENT lemon fanfics for Kenshin a couple weeks ago.... soooo good. and they were short, which might be something good for ehre?

Thanks for the clarification--on Amazon, some of those books looked a bit too Harlequin for a macho guy like me (just kidding about the macho part).

Thanks for the bump, Skye...I'm willing to try Holly's Cooking Up a Storm since it's listed on Amazon and B&N as available within 24 hours...Although the Galen's Realm suggestion is also interesting. Any other votes?

Since I kicked off the thread, I might as well take a crack at the format of the club as well. I recommend that we each read the same book/story and set a time limit (say three or four weeks) for folks to share their impressions and discuss what about the work piques their interest. Since this is on-line, I'm expecting that it will take a couple of weeks to provoke the kind of discussion that you might get in an hour or so of face-to-face meeting (since we probably will not all be logged on at the same time).

Also, I definitely favor expanding the horizon of candidates beyond books to include e-books, short stories, maybe even the occasional Literotica story:) .

Hope this message isn't too didactic.

I think this thread needs a bit of a <bump>.

Right now, Cooking Up a Storm has two votes as a book for discussion...is the lack of voting an indication that

(a) no one likes to read erotica
(b) no one likes to read erotica that someone else likes
(c) this whole thread was a bad idea in the first place

????

can you have a book club with only two people? i was thinking the same thing. might be a better topic for the general boards. or we can continue. whatever you think RomanHans. and it is a great idea. drop me a line if you try it out somewhere else.

I thought about introducing this thread on the General Board, but worried that it might get lost in the clutter...in my mind, a book club probably requires more than two people, since the idea is to be introduced to range of new authors and ideas and start an extended discussion (which I feel differs from a dialogue). However, I've already learned of a few new authors to look for--so far my limited collection includes only the pseudonyms of Anne Rice--but I'd still like to open this to more participation.

I'll try to introduce a link on the General Board and see if it gets broader participation...
