Violet Wand. Request help

Hello!
I've got an old friend coming up soon. I bought a few items to prepare and this item recommended itself over Amazon. I bought it thinking it would throw her for a loop. The problem is that I'm SURE there's a technique to using it but I can't seem to find a good "how to" anywhere. I understand the safety measures, but I'm talking about using it to its for its intended purpose, and using it well.

Can anyone with some experience help me out?
