Hi, does anyone here have any idea how to keep vinyl fetish wear maintained? A friend of mine said if I don't take care of it, the items will crack over time. Every search I've done yields record and car care advise. Thanks.

The advice for keeping vinyl supple and avoid cracking in cars should work equally well for vinyl clothing.

You might also do a search for the manufacturer's websites for care instructions specific to the products you own. (or search for manufacturers of vinyl fetish-wear and then look for care instructions on their sites.)

I used to ride horses, and had a good deal of leather clothing/gear that needed to be taken care of. I used leather conditioner to keep it clean, supple, and shiny. I figured there must be something similar for vinyl (especially since, as harold said, people need to care for their car interiors), so I did a quick Google search for "vinyl conditioner."

Here's one conditioner that says it's ok for use on clothing:

I also found this blurb - it's from a fetish-wear site, and is specifically giving care advice for latex clothing (not vinyl), but the products it lists are also safe for latex, I believe...

* Clean the inside of your garments with plain water and a sponge.
* Lightly talc the inside of your garments and store them in plastic.
* Clean the outside of your garments with STP Son-Of-A-Gun and a soft cloth.
* Protect your garments - stay out of the sun! The sun irreparably damages latex!
* Water based lube is OK to get in or on latex. Oil bases are not! Including but not limited to deodorants, hair gel, etc.
* For a super finishing shine use a gentle "food grade" silicone spray.
* Protect your clothes and yourself by avoiding scissors, nails, etc.

When in doubt, check with the shop where you bought the clothing. They should be able to give you advice on how to care for it and keep it in tip-top shape.
