U.S. Rep. Paul Broun's view that the theories of evolution and the big bang are "lies straight from the pit of Hell" is getting more exposure than he might have expected, thanks to a video that was made at a church-sponsored banquet in Georgia and distributed by a progressive political watchdog group.
The Georgia Republican is already well-known as an outspoken conservative Christian, due in part to his unsuccessful campaign to have 2010 declared "the Year of the Bible." But the latest comments have taken on an extra dab of controversy because Broun, a medical doctor, calls himself a scientist in the and chairs the House Science Committee's panel on investigations and oversight.

Ass holes like Rep. Broun are the reason I could never again vote Republican for national office regardless of polls, debates or economic reports.

I'm from Kentucky....

I just try not to think about congressmen...

The Republican party has basically gone crazy. They're pretty much at war with math, biology, and physics. America will not get better until the GOP realizes they need to go in a different direction.

And then they complain that all the engineering, computer, and science jobs are sent overseas or or taken by foreign workers!!!

Assholes like you are the reason why I could never vote for the Democrats again for national office regardless of polls, debates or economic reports.

Why on earth do you think that whether or not one believes in one small point in one branch of science is something any sane person should base a political vote on? This contrived, absurd, PREJUDICED and BIGOTED attack on people who happen to question one scientific theory in one branch of science is actually the absolute height of ideological prejudice, intolerance and stupidity.

ITS NOT A POLITICAL ISSUE, and people like you who obsess over it are intolerant enemies of freedom. GET A REAL ISSUE TO HATE PEOPLE OVER OR SHUT UP.

This "issue" is about conformity to an unproven ideology that indeed has nothing to do directly with politics. Its about whether people "tow the line" and pay homage to liberalism's social religion.

The obsessive political evolutionists generally know little to nothing about science and don't care about it anyway. "Science" to them is about one theory in one branch of science that they use as a litmus test of conformity and control. They don't even care about it per se. Its about politically correct control.

BTW, the hated Catholic Church endorses evolution theory, not that its relevant to anything, but its funny, how many of the political evolutionists also hate the Catholic Church? The whole "issue" would be laughable if it didn't indicate the underlying totalitarian attack on freedom that establishment liberalism stands for.

racist_ruse is upset. Back-to-back posts.

Good thread.

IT IS A POLITICAL ISSUE!!

Do we want a man that goes to the Bible to make his scientific decisions? Want someone that believes the Bible AS FACT making decisions that will effect millions of people?

FUCK NO!

I want the brightest, most QUALIFIED people to do it. Not someone that's "bound by God's Law"!

on planet Renard... evolution is apparently unproven

and better yet... he's inflamed by the attack on religon... but no one attacked religon in this case.. this was religon attacking science

outrage and reading comprehension seems to be rather selective in his case

renard, I read everyone of your posts very carefully. I want to be just like you when I grow up.

Did you get more stupid over the past week?

Nah, not possible.

Science really IS scary.

Even I sometimes need an imaginary teddy bear to cuddle when thinking about the immense vastness of the universe compared to our tiny spec called Earth.

Calling Earth "tiny" is even an exaggeration.

Every life that exists, has existed, and will exist. All of human history. Every technological innovation. Every invention.

Totally and completely insignificant and could all be wiped clean in an instant from a purely random event such as a gamma ray burst.

We are alone. A ship adrift in an endless sea of blackness.

So maybe should learn how to get along.

It would appear to come as a surprise to you that the day to day operations of the Departments of Agriculture, Energy, Health and Human Services and agencies such as the EPA, FCC, FAA, NOAA, USGS, NASA, DARPA, the National Science Foundation and many, many more involve numerous scientific issues that in no way conflict with or are even remotely relevant to religious dogma.

The vast majority of decisions Rep. Boun or any other member of Congress is required to make will involve a skill set far removed from their command of the Holy Scriptures.

Renard has already made this point, but I’m just trying to make it again, albeit a bit more diplomatically.
