Video Chat

My job is sending me on the road for nearly a month. While I have nation wide free cell to cell service, so I could call home as much as I want, it would be pretty nice to do a little video chat. I typically use Trillian for normal IM but was wondering which is the best software for video chat.

Is any one of the IM programs with video capabilities really any better that the others? I'm looking for pros and cons.

Hardware is covered as they're built into wifey and my laptops... I was meaning software

IE: skype, MSN, Yahoo, ETC?

Yahoo Messenger v.8.1 is the BEST

cause most people on Lit use Y!
some use AIM/MSN/ICQ etc.

actually I'd recommend stick with trillian if it lets u webcam with others. cause trillian is all in one.

there is another all-in one - Pidgin

frankly speaking, software doesn't matter much, its the company of human that does.
I've each of the IM messenger, but still its all lonely with selfish people 'stealthy appearing offline to me all the time.'

I will never use yahoo again

Yahoo has too many bots and Yahoo spreads viruses.

A few months ago I logged on and once I opened the chat window with a friend, I started getting IM's from bots. It was so much that we immediately turned it off.

If you are looking for a free / no frills cam programs then use AIM or Skype. I was on AIM a few weeks ago talking to an out of state friend and it worked great. It was good enough for me to chat with him and see his new born baby.

If you want more bells & whistles then there are pay sites but AIM & SKype worked great for what I needed.

i had similar problem too,
but only once..when a friend was using Y! from a cybercafe.
otherwise all my buddies are d/d virus/spayware/trojan free
