I know there is probably an answer around here somewhere, but I haven't had a chance to check.

I want to know what format is needed to post a vid clip.

Can anyone give me step by step instructions please?

I want to know what format is needed to post a vid clip.

If you mean hotlink it into your post or attach it to a post here at Lit, the short answer is you can't.

IF it's short enough and can be put into a ZIP file smaller than 102400 bytes (100KB exactly, not 102KB) the you can attch the ZIP file.

If you can't compress it into a small enough ZIP archive, then you only option for sharing it here is to put it on a website somewhere and provide a link to it.
