Veterans Day/Remembrance Day! Thank you!

A MATTER OF HONOR

We the young men of WWII,
Fought to restore the life we knew;
To free the world from Hitler's grasp,
And bring mankind to peace at last.

We gave our lives to pass the test;
To show what kind of heart beat in our breast.
Where did we find the courage, you may ponder;
It was simply, a matter of honor.

To all the Vets, thank you. :rose:

Go tell the Spartans, passerby, that here lie the three hundred obedient to their orders.

What he said ...

but, add a :kiss: and a :nana:

(Expanding on) this is a day for ALL vets: wartime or peace, they've all contributed, from the grunt on the front line, to the desk-jockeys in the Pentagon (or the equivalent in your country), & to the National & Coast Guards -all of them.

Without getting too political & speaking about today, use the Cold War as an example: even without shots, or very few, fired, the size & capabilities of our military can't be discredited as very likely saving millions of lives. The things that didn't happen over all those years, & continue not to happen to this day. The intangibles. Cuba. Israel. North Korea. Things could've been a whole lot uglier than they were. Add a thousand more here that didn't happen. Consequences.

Disaster relief: Hurricanes, Tsunamis, ...name it, & they've been there & done that.

I could go on, & should, but need to get ta work now. Today's for ALL of them.

Thanks again :)

A helluva site! *saved*

They forget all the black ops to foreign operations after the Munich Olympics Massacre.......killing terrorist fucks before it was trendy...

Right on brother!

A simple Australian's attempt to say, Thank-You...

I would just like to add my unwavering support and thanks to all the veterans out there from all the wars of the past - we will remember them.

The sacrifices that they have made over the centuries, around the globe on countless battlefields known and forgotten, will resonate through the ages. A small cliff-face in Turkey is where our young nation found identity during the First World War, at Galopili where so many of our allies and our sons were cut down in their prime.

Lest we forget them, or the thousands upon thousands of other men and women who had lost their lives in the service of their countries and their fellow citizens. If they fought with honour and with valour, they are worth our respect and admiration, no matter where they are from. War is the ultimate act of political 'diplomacy', rarely is it the soldiers that are to blame (with some exceptions)

My thoughts go out now to all those currently serving in the military uniforms of Australia and her allies, wherever they may be around the world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for protecting our way of life.

My hat is off and my hand is over my heart....Thank you Servicemen and Servicewomen....If it were not for you, we would not have the freedom to be on this board right now....or ever.

Yeah those guys in supply always had first dibs on the good stuff.

Damn Skippy. It always killed me to see those guys in new uniforms/boots when they came into the system and it would be months until the guys with their dicks in the dirt would get them.

I want to throw in my thanks as well. My dad was a ‘Tunnel Rat’ back in Vietnam. I make it a point to thank all the vets I see, and welcome home the Vietnam vets –since they never got a true welcoming.
