I just found something really weird. Is it possible to fake the date on a blog entry??

Cause I was doing a google search to check for ripped off stories and I found a poem of mine that wasn't even WRITTEN until January of this year posted on a site (with MY byline... well, my alt's byline) with a Nov 2004 date.

Edited to add:
(When checking the name of the url that points directly to it, it's archive9... which helps show the date has to be faked because archive8 was posted with a Jan 2005 date and archive10 was posted with a May 2005 date... and the date that google shows beside the link is May 30, 2005)

I once walked into my high school biology classroom and saw a poem I'd written, and not given to anyone, up on the back blackboard, unsigned. It was one of the first drafts and so I figured I must have left that page behind somewhere, but it was truly bizarre. (not to mention frustrating because my lab partner simply would not believe that it was my poem. Grrrrr.)

Good to know I'm not the only one wierd shit like that happens to, Crim. :rose: And glad to know you got the date matter figured out. :D

While I'm on the subject. Is there anything Manu and Laurel can do about pay sites that rip off parts of your stories and your byline to get search hits for their site? I don't think the actual stories are posted anywhere on the site, they are just using parts for google hits.

I don't know, but it drives me nuts. One of the Lit Olympics stories, I think it's Bel's, has been snagged that way and comes up with a ton of hits now when I google my member name.

It's just a number on a web page. Yes, it can be altered. Not everyone knows how, though. And it's more or less hard, depending on the blog system.
