The year is 2025 and the United States of America is no longer the country that it use to be. The country is now lead by a fascist governmental party called the Nationalistic party. Under their rule, the United States has become a darker version of itself.

American citizens can no longer exercise their rights for freedom of speech, religion, or press and foreigners have no rights at all. Curfews are in effect across the whole country, the military now acts at the police force for the country, the economy is controlled by the government, and the people are almost always watched through surveillance systems across the country.

How did this come to be? How did the United States of America; a country that values freedom, justice, and equality: become one that now values injustice, intolerance, and total control? Few know the truth. Americans are blinded by propaganda and fear keeps them quiet and obedient. Therefore, almost no one opposes the government. But there are a few who do openly oppose the government. A group of people, who believe in real America, want to restore the honor and purity of the country. These revolutionaries are considered anarchists and malcontents by the government.

This thread shows the darker side of America and is based on mystery, adventure, espionage, and betrayal. The players take the roles of these revolutionaries. The characters will have to trust each other, but trust is hard to come by these days, and will bond as they work together to survive.

Will need the following information.

Name: Harry Black
Age: Early 40's.
Sex: Male
Appearance: Think investment guy who does field research in Africa & Central Asia. Suit & tie kind of guy who is at home with a fountain pen...or an FAL.
Personality: Quiet. Friendly, but not your friend. Doesn't really like what his country has become, but keeps it to himself. Not a rock the boat kind of guy.

History:
Harry grew up middle class, went to college, then did some time in the military. Don't ask him to tell you about it. He doesn't.

When he came out, he went into what he calls "Boots on the ground business development."

South American coffee plantations or factories not performing to standard?
Problems in the Gulf States with your shipping?
Problems with oil pipelike parts being stolen in Central Asia?

Harry's the man you call.

He's your problem solver for your problems.

The problem may require the company to hire a Doctor to come out to the worksite to treat the local's families insuring they will work even harder for the corporation (because, hey...the coffee farm owner cares!...), bribing customs agents (please...I prefer the think of it as insuring commerce flows without unnecessary problems...) to eliminating theft (and theives...)

He's made a lot of money doing this kind of work. Some of it is even legal and taxed!

Some may consider him a parasite. Others consider him a go-to guy. In a world in which everyone's out for themselves, everyone considers him as having something they want.

Contacts.
Money.
Guns.
Information...Oh, yes...

Information.

Harry's well informed. He travels abroad a lot, and due to his working for big corporations (yes kids...Exon-Apple-Verizon, Inc. exists...they just operate in partnership with the Government. The rich are still rich...) he's got a need to know.

Will you get what you want from him? Duno. Harry's not into giving up the goods for just anyone.

Like your character set up. Seems you understand what I'm going for. Your characters military career can prove to be both beneficial and a drawback. Beneficial because he know what's going on and has access to contacts. Drawbacks because he can be more noticeable and more likely to be watch by the Nationalistic Party.

Here's my character.
Name: Steven Preston
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Appearance: 5'11'' and 156 lbs, he has a thin gangly appearance. But, he's very quick witted and agile. He has blue eyes, pale skin, short straight raven black hair. Has several scars on his back and one on his face, starting from above his left eye and continuing down to his nose. All courtesy from the Nationalistic Government.
Personality: Steven is a leader, plain and simple. He likes to plan things out and see his goals achieved no matter what, his goals being to overthrow the Nationalistic Government and restore America to what it once was. He seems to always be several steps ahead of his opponents. Despite his determination, he always seems cheery and joyful. Something not usually seen in leaders.
History: Steven was young, but still remembered the change in power when the Nationalistics took power. He remembered the chaos that swept the country art first, the riots, protests. It was burned into his memory. As he grew, he spoke out for democracy and tried to bring it back into the government. Unfortunately, this drew the attention of the government, and Stevens was sent to a reform center. There he was beaten and tortured, called an anarchist and traitor to the United States. They tried brainwashing him. He almost gave in, when a riot happened. He barely escaped alive, and is now a fugitive on the run form the government.
Notes: Stevens is a master at disguises. He has to be to avoid being captured by the government. He work tirelessly for find others who are sympathetic to his cause.

Harry is watched because he is one of those guys that makes the world go round.

You can be whatever you want, so long as Eon-Apple-Verizon, Inc. keeps everything on an even keel...

Harry solves problems. Problems that come into being when you no longer have a free market. Does that make him bad? No...It makes him...necessary.

Yes, but remember, the United States controls everything, the economy, corporate businesses, military. Also, foreign countries don't trade with the United States like they use to. Foreigner are treated as second-class citizens. Foreign companies are rare in the United States unless controlled by the government. Also, our characters are against the government and have little power. Make sure your guy isn't someone who has unlimited resources. Our characters can't be boasting out and out in the open. So I don't know what you mean when you say he makes the world go round. Remember, citizens don't have much power, there rights are all but gone.

Just like in the USSR in the 70's & 80's..."Fixers" were necessary then too.

Also, foreign countries don't trade with the United States like they use to.

Politics are politics...commerce is commerce...

Foreigner are treated as second-class citizens.

As they should be. Dirty rats, they are!

Foreign companies are rare in the United States unless controlled by the government.

As they should be! (Of course...if you need me to hook you up something on my next trip to Africa, I could have it in my bag that gets lost at the airport...I'll call you before I come back to the States and you just let me know what you need, and we'll work it out with customs at the airport, OK?)

He doesn't have any hard power. He get's people what they want without the hastle of all the red tape. In any repressive government, their are people who make life...livable...for those in that government who aren't at the very top who have it all.

A General doesn't have problems getting wine and coffee...a Major, well...that's an issue, isn't it? Sometimes the equiptment get's a bit...old too. Replacements are hard to come by.

If someone who happens to travel on legit business happens to bring back something he needs like some coffee, or maybe a Browning Hi-Power & a few spare mags...and the Major could meet him at the Airport to personally insure that the traveler isn't carrying in contra-ban...

Well. The Major may just get a few Kilos of Columbian coffee & a sidearm that's in good working order.

And our Traveler? He makes a friend. Maybe he's gonna hear things through this friend. Maybe he'll get introduced to other people who need a friend. Maybe he'll introduce some of his friends to them...

And maybe he's going to meet some people who aren't happy with how things are going.

But...power...

Telling the cops "I've got rights!" - please...

Having a business card of someone higher up in your wallet with a note on the back of it saying "He's a friend of mine, and I'd appreciate if you considered that...Commissioner Big Guy" and letting the cop see it when showing your papers...

Well.

Shrug.

He's not above the law...No...just...you might want to think twice before beatin on this guy. It may not work out too well.

Mine in bold.
