Just when you think the thread couldn't get better with the last post Richard and Vanessa pop another outstanding set of photos. Hi Alex, I just remembered that I forgot to answer your question about the books we bought. Richard bought a whole pile of books on Australiana and Australian history and I bought a couple of books on George Eliot plus one of her short stories as well as a book called "Cities and People" about the history of the development of some of the major cities around the world. Looking forward to looking through all of them!

I was trying to remember how I got the "look".......that warm, rich tone. I had a pair of TTL Canon flash units which I used in conjunction with the Canon 1D (which I still have) and experimented positioning them from different angles; it was a bit hit and miss as some of the pics were not lit well or were too stark. I stopped using the flash units because I found them too troublesome. They went long ago.
Nowadays, most lighting units appear to be LED. They can be set to any tone you want. I have a couple of them which I bought a couple of years ago.....nothing special, but the result is nowhere near as good as the old flash units........not for me anyway.

Yes, it is reminiscent of Murano glass, I agree Amiche .. maybe that's what attracted me. I remember seeing the glass blowing in Venice when I was a child and was fascinated by it. I also have a few necklaces made with Murano glasss, I love the colours and transparency.
