It has never been a favourite, regardless of being interrupted....... the lighting was all wrong and I'd mucked up the camera settings. Then of course, we lost our privacy and that was that.

Yes I guess so. Most nude beaches have their share of pervs and lookers.....just human I suppose.
When you visit a nude beach etc and get your kit off, you need to accept a level of scrutiny but there are usually many others doing the same thing. It's all very normal, relaxed...chatting occasionally, swimming, sun baking. However, there are always a few (sometimes many) who set themselves up for the best view. When we first visited nude beaches it was all very off putting, it was all new to us. In later years we really didn't give a bugger.
The jerk I mentioned previously was way down on the beach near the waters edge; when he saw us photographing, he ran, ran! up the dunes and sat himself down a few meters away. I saw him coming and told Vanessa to get her gear on, which she did, and he wasted his energy...we left within thirty seconds. So blatant and just plain bad form. I couldn't do that in a million years. But that's the risk; you take a chance, mostly you win but sometimes you lose.

I believe a few of the beaches around Port Stephens were clothing optional.
We lived in the Upper Hunter for a few years so visited there often. It's beautiful.
Never made use of the clothing optional though

Richard don't worry about the lighting, your subject matter is perfect. Just looks like a cloudy day with the lighting. Vanessa's fun frolicking in the dunes is still captured well, and I would say they are a great set of pictures. What a shame about the unwanted pest running up, what a knobhead. Good move leaving, but a shame your enjoyment was interrupted.
