I held a baby today. She fell asleep in my arms after a while and her mum let me hold her and cry for as long as I needed to.

But I had to give her back eventually.

It's OK, Fem, and here's why: You're not "dredging up" anything that's been submerged - Vana lives with her loss as an active presence all through the day right now. In time it will recede somewhat and not be there all the time, but not yet.
