sorry, author's name is Billie Sue Mossiman
book title "Red Moon Rising"
Howdy again! Yeah, I know you were refering to Red Moon Rising. In fact the Mosiman series are one of my favorites. I was just sharing one of the books I recently had come across (A Taste For Blood). Sorry if I went off course re your post.

i just did a search for vampire on my public library and wow are there a lot of books with vamp stories. Most seem to try a scientific explanation for vamps though. I just read one that brought up something called a "Mavarian Dark One". they're like vamps but they're life is devoted to finding they're soulmate(Beloved--a human who is then changed through Joining). Then they start to become more human bit by bit, but still immortal.
(Katie MacAlister - Sex and the Single Vampire)

It seems alot of authors don't want to try the mythological approach, or is this just a sign of how science has gotten into everything today? No matter, still good reading and inspiration.

Laurell K Hamilton is an AWESOME erotic vamp writer...so isnt charlaine Harris, MaryJanice Davidson, Angela Knight....Vicki Taylor.
They all just did an anthology of short stories call BITE...you should go pic it up!
They really get diverse in their definition of vampire, and what is considered erotic.

And of course, me!
My story is vamparic in detail....
Go peek!
