Vampires Embrace

Mina smiled and led Janus up the marble stairs to her own private rooms. Vladmire had lit several candles and left a flask of wine. the door closed behind them and she said, "I think having you here will be good. it's nice to be around one as old as me and older.

The room was decorated in silks and satins of red and black, though there was an odd purple pillow here and there. mina moved away from him to lounge on her bed.

Corinth's eyes never left him. Her attention was so utterly absorbed in his words, it seemed she had indeed been cast back in time with his speech. So he did know her Sire. Maybe through some odd way of the world she had been guided here, to this moment, to meet this man.

Bloody. Cruel. Wise.

Finally, a touch of a smile turned the corner of her slender lips. The smile was ghostly as if she were recalling some distanct memory. She let the feeling envelope her, distinctly hearing the sound of her Sire's voice booming within her head. She inhaled suddenly, able to pick up the metallic scent of blood, vampire blood. The scent though wasn't in the club. It was being manufactured by her mind. It was the blood spilled by her Sire, by her, His orders always followed, no matter how torturous, how ghastly. Yet, she sat there with a smile gliding upon her lips despite the horrific images bathing her thoughts.

Swiftly, she was yanked from her memories. For a moment things were clouded, she felt lost and confused. She had entered a realm she had never stepped within before. Her green eyes flashed darkly as she peered at Ambrose closely. She was travelling within the depths of his mind, being drawn deep and deeper into the swelling darkness. Like a door slamming, she pulled back as the contact was blocked. Corinth had felt there was something lurking behind the images. She felt his strength, that even greater with his age.

Her smile disappeared from her lips as if it had never even been there. Sitting back upon her seat, she watched him still. All her senses functioning once again. Her voice soft again, streaming from her lips as she breaks her floating mindspeak.

"What is it you desire from me, Ambrose?"

Janus chuckled, "I am most definately older than most everyone here. So I suppose I could claim everyone here is too young for me..." He offered her a wry smile, though somewhere deep in his gaze there was something playful about it.

"I like the decor, reminds me of home... somewhat." Sliding the trench coat off and setting it by the door before moving more fully into the room. Stridely confidantly over to stand once again in front of his hostess and shaking his head. "Though I will say I am not sure it is often wise to let the young ones have such a free reign in this establishment, it can lead to problems. It is your perogative as proprieter however."

Mina laughed softly, "No one has free reign her except ofr me. The younger ones know what will happen should they cross me. Vladmire an dthe others are always watching for trouble."

She smile dup at him as she patted the spot beside her on the bed, "Relax, won't you janus? nothing can hurt you here."

Janus intrigued her. he was very old and very powerful. In many ways he remind her of her father and she found her eyes wandering to the portrait of her parents that hung above the fireplace.

Stefan in his time was one of the most revered and respected vampire's in their homeland. he was ruthless and bloodthirsty, but he cared deeply for his wife and child.

He stood proud as always with sword at his side with her mother, Ileana, sitting by his side.

He nodded, "If they prove too much for your servants I am always happy to put my skills to use."

Smirking he settles onto the bed, "Relax? That is a tall order, Mina, I've spent most of my unlife looking over my shoulder for one sort of threat or another. Be it from the humans or the younger vampires, I can always count on someone or something watching me, waiting for me to slip. Thankfully I haven't yet."

He follows her gaze, noting the picture. "Quite the warrior your father, at least that's what I gather from the painting. I don't believe I ever met him, in person."

Focusing his attention back to Mina he offered her a smile, a genuine smile. "So did you call me up here to discuss business or to try and get me to let my guard down some?"

Mina nodded, "He was, but even the strong fall."

"I brought you up here for some privacy, and maybe more. I never feed downstairs, not when i'm trully hungry." her viloet eyes glowed softly.

"Tell me Janus, is there anyone in your life?"

"True, as evidenced by Rome. Devoured from within when it grew too large."

He sighs, "Ah well, such is the way of things as I've discovered."

"Hmmm, I had thought to feed downstairs but I will happily do so with you."

"Life?" He chuckles and shakes his head, "No I do not have anyone, not anyone I care for as anything more than a useful servant or tool."

Tilting his head he regards her shrewdly, "Why the sudden interest?"

Mina smiled softly. "As i said you intrigue me and as such i'd like for you to stay for awhile. With me."

She moved closer until they were a breath apart.

Ambrose smiled.

"What kind of a trader would I be if I let you know what I wanted just like that?"

He rose.

"Perhaps there is something I desire, though. Lately, an enemy has been stalking me on the streets of the city. I can feel it in the mists, in the patches of silence where there is no sound. I've tried throwing it off with glamours, and warding my doors with old magic, but it always returns. I do not know what this enemy is, and I wish to. There is a certain ritual, more powerful than your kind's bloodrites, that I might cast that would reveal this enemy's face to me. Mina allows me the use of a backroom here for such spells"

Ambrose extended a hand. His expression was a mixture of invitation and challenge.

"Would you assist me in this ritual, be the magical grounding? It is dangerous, but... invigorating. Even transcendental. And I would be in your debt"

"An intruiging offer childe. Though one cannot get to my age and not wonder what someone wants when they make such an offer."

He doesn't move away from her as she advances, though he doesn't make any more to get closer. Almost as a statue save for the pallor of life gracing his face.

"Though that could merely being my own survival instincts coming to the fore. It's hard to live as long as I have and not be wary of most everything that comes along."

Mina chuckled. "I understand. I am lonely for companionship, and more. You and i are very much alike." she laid her hand on his thigh, "You can leave if you wish, I do not care, but I would like for you to stay."

Her fingers were intertwined as she listened to him speak. Her mind had already begun to try to figure out who would be after him. Why one would desire to spill his blood? Then again, these days, you didn't have to have a reason for bloodshed. Hell, Corinth wanted to kill simply because she could. It was exhilirating. There was nothing like stalking your prey, holding it captive and watching that last gasp as it's life was tossed from it's shell.

"Would you assist me in this ritual, be the magical grounding? It is dangerous, but... invigorating. Even transcendental. And I would be in your debt"

His hand had extended as she was lost in thought over his predator. She had heard the question though. It struck her as intriguing. That was something that had lacked over the months she had been alone. Intrigue, nothing had aroused her curiousity, until now. Without much thought, her hand settled neatly into his grasp, rising from the seat, her step fell into line slightly behind him to the left. The gesture was all she needed to confirm her positive response to his question.

Mina stared deeply in Jauns' eyes. "i've longed for one such as you. You stir something i n me long forgotten." Her mouth was mere inches from his ear as she continued on, "I would keep you for all eternity if I could."

ERick slipped into Embrace, his thoughts hidden from those around him. he smirked. Mina had done well for herself.. She'd hidden herself from him for centuries and even went as far as to change her first name.

Erick was a slayer though and as such he would have found her either way. he began looking for her in the crowd. his wife, his prey.

He chuckled, "It seems to me you would care very much if I left. Your every action is telegraphing your desire for me to remain with you."

As he gazed back into Mina's eyes he rested one of his hands on hers. "I will stay, as you wish, for now. You understand, better than any others do, that I am not one easily caught and kept though. Perhaps once upon a time it would have been easier but as you are aware time has jaded me to quite some extent."

Mina nodded, "Of course, but ones who live as long as we should not be alone for too long.it would drive us mad."

She was about to kiss him when she felt an old familiar soul in her club. "No it couldn't be? He'd have to be immortal to stilll be alive."

He watched as the girl sat down beside him, studying her with his deeply penetrating eyes. He noticed with amusment how she wriggled with discomfort and occasionally pressed her thighs together most unusually. He carressed his words into her head, but he knew that if he continued to speak to her this way, his mind would collapse hers.

"My name is Jayven. Perhaps you've heard of me since you seem very interested in my kind. I lead the Black Thorn line."

Sorry post is short, times are kinda hard right now, I'll write more later.

Janus shrugged, "I've managed to survive so far without losing my sanity. As I said I have my servants."

He blinked as she pulled away when she seemed so intent on getting closer. "I'm missing something here, aren't I?"

"Janus I do be lieve we have som bad company downstairs." With out another word Mina stood and stromed downstairs.

Erick in the mean time had made his way over to her throne and casually sat down upon it. his legs across the left arm.

Those watching gasped in horror. Was this guy insane? mina would have his head.

Vladmire stormed over, but stopped short upon seeing Erick. "You!! You should be dead!"

"Quite and so should you. So tell me Vladdy where is my loving wife?"

"Right here." Mina said with a growl. Embrace went silent ast Mina came down the stairs. Those who were smart moved closer to the door.

Scooping his coat up on his way out he followed Mina down the stairs.

Reaching the bottom a moment behind her he looked over the unwelcomed guest, sizing him up. Slipping a hand into his coat as unobtrusively as possible he kept his focus on the intruder.

Erick smiled, "Dear sweet Mina. I've missed you so very much. A wife shouldn't run from her husband."

"Our marriage was over to minute I found out who you really were." Mina kept her distance and saw Vladmire move in front of her.

Erick saw it as well and snorted, "Vladmire why do you protect this flith? This abomination? Our ppl have never had a problem with the Immortals. Step aside."

"Never." Vladmire crossed his arms over his chest.

"Erick leave, you're outnumbered her. i see one Slayer and about one hundred of my kin." Mina warned.

ERick laughed. "Your kin? Mina do you think they'll want to be aroudn you when they find out you are a slayers wife. That you even gave birth to his son?"

Mina's hands bunched into fists. "Don't you dare speak of Nicoli! You bastard. You tricked me. Lead me to believe you lvoed me and then you killed my parents and our Son!!"

Erick clapped at her tears, "You killed him, my dear. You killed them. You led me to believe you were human. What choice did I have but to kill our son. I couldn't let him live as one of you." He laughed.

Mina would have launched herself at him had Vladmire not caught her about the waist.

Janus listened impassively as his hand closed about the hilt of his gladius. He never let it stray far from him when he went out, especially to such a place as this.

He too laid a restraining hand on Mina's shoulder. "Don't let your anger guide your hand, Mina."

Placing himself between Erik and Mina he freed his gladius from the confinment of it's sheat and his coat. "Come now slayer, if you're looking for prey it seems you've found some. Perhaps one even out of your league if you kill defensless children for sport."

Looking janus up and down Ericka asked, "Janus right? heard about you. This is between me and her." he smiled when Mina growled. "We'll be seeing each other soon."

He turned and headed for a door. With a nod from Vladmire they let him pass.

Many of the vamps began to filter out. Talking amongst thmselves about what had just happened. Mian was still raging. She pulled away from Vladmire and stalked upp stairs. the immortal walked ot janus and said, "Watch her for me. She is not at her best right now."

Janus growled at Erick, a sound from some racial memory buried deep in the humans primitive brain, something that would cause fear in a normal mortal. He doesn't rise to the slayers taunts, merely watches his opponent.

His eyes track the slayer as he leaves the club, followed shortly by the younger vampires. The gladius returns to it's concealment as he turns to Vladmire. He smirked and chuckled, "I wouldn't be either, but I'll keep an eye on her."

Turning silently he moved up the stairs, shutting and locking the door once he reached Mina's chambers. Pausing to look at her before doing anything else.

Mina sat in front of her mirror brushing her hiar. they way she was doing ti would have been painful to ayone else. Though she wasn't looking into the mirror, more she was staring at the tiny portrait of her son on her table. "i shouldn't have thought he was trully dead. SLayer were always different from humans."
