Say I was to write a story and in this story I was a real vampire, who was telling all you mortals out there the truth about vampires

Plz give me some questions that you think should be answered, other than what kills a vampire and what abilities do they have.

Thanks :)

I am the vampire expert. Hang on, let me slip into something more comfortable.
<------

Questions to consider:

Whether vampires feel the cold?
How do they regard humanity, now that they've left it?
Do vampires love?
Do vampires feel remorse?
Are you a different person - is it all about the hunt and the prey, or are oyu basically the same just with fangs?
Do vampires fear death?
Do they have any ambition beyond the hunt and the kill?

Just some thoughts.

How do they make a living? Steal?

Are they always alone?

If not alone, do they associate with unknowing humans? Or other vampires? How do they find other vampires.

Do they regret? Do they enjoy their lifestyle? Is there any hope of ever being human again?

Is there a set belief system inherent in being a vampire?

How often must they feed? Would blood of animals suffice? Do they enjoy the fear they inspire?

What is their opinion of the media's protrayal of vampires.

Do they care about the world around them? Follow the news, politics. Could they bite certain named politicians? Okay, I digress.

Do different people taste different? Do women taste sweeter, men muskier, etc? Is there any difference regarding race? Does a human being's eating habits change the taste of their blood, just like it changes the taste of semen?

They feel it. But unless it freezes them solid they don't care.

It depends on what their attitude was before they became vampires. The problem is their hunger. It's hard to care deeply about your food. And if you're starving, you're going to have a meal.

There's also the problem of immortality. "Who wants to live forever, when love must die?" as the song goes.

If a vampire lives long enough, humans become ephemeral. A single lifetime doesn't mean much to you if you walked the streets of Imperial Rome, or spoken to Socrates.

Do vampires feel remorse?

Yes, to my mind. But see above.

I vote for same person with fangs. And hunger. Kinda boring otherwise in my opinion, just some predator, with slightly more brains in the former case.

Or maybe it's both cases?

Again that's going to depend.

In the vampire story I just finished one waited for the sun to come up within a month of her becoming a vampire. She couldn't live with being a monster. Her lover, the one who created her is 250 years old.

The biggest problem is again immortality. Someday, you're likely to get tired of living.

In the vampire milieu I'm most familiar with there are rumours of a vampire 14,000 years old.

TheEarl said:

Again, it depends.

Again, in my favourite milieu, vampires are in pretty constant competition for prey. They also work very hard to keep humans from knowing they exist.

To meet both these goals they often acquire political and economic power.

But mostly it depends on the individual.

In my story, the vampire is a history teacher. Makes sense considering he was around for a lot of it. ;)

The milieu I'm most familiar with is the game Vampire: The Masquerade. I thought it was an excellent riff on all the various vampire myths. See what you can find on line.

I am a Whedonverse devotee myself and can natter on for days about the finer points of that mythology.

(looks at your AV)

I never would have guessed. ;)

For my part, the most intersting thing about vampiers is how do you fight the ennui? When you have seen it all, done it all, over and over again, what provides the spark to keep wanting to go on?

Writing an olf vsmampire is tough, because you have to deal with the fact he or she has to have some reason to get up every evening and not just greet the sun and have done with it.

When one would imagine secrecy to be important to your survival, why do so many of you want to tell us your story and share your secrets?

Now there's an interesting thought lol

If vampires have no blood-flow or heart-beat...

...HOW DO THEY GET ERECTIONS?!?!?!?!

Sadly enough, I have to say that I can answer this one. As it has been discussed before, by me, ona a very anally retentive website.

Blood isn't pumped through veins by your heart, but by the movement of your muscles. This is why standing still for a very long time may lead to blood clots. Therefore, it's more than possible that, given the correct valves, a vampire could pump blood into his penis through normal muscle twitches, rather than via arteries.

So it's not just the fangs that grow? It's VALVES as well? Wow...

My question is why would a vampire have sex?

and especially develope anything for that purpose.

Just seems sex is a matter for the living :)

PS I have put way too much thought into the whole vampire sex thing, having the unfortuant designation of GM prior to the LARP rules for V:tM coming out...

Interesting stuff. However, you have overlooked the most puzzling question of all. Since vampires have no reflection in a mirror, how do they groom themselves?

A man I knew played Dracula on stage. He combed and brushed without a mirror, straight back from the hairline. But he felt the role called for a ridulously clean-shaven face, even though Stoker's original wore a beard. So he shaved meticulously before combing away from the mirror. He was a good Dracula, impatient with mortals and contemptuous of them. Sex is the reason they do the neck thing, he had decided. Drac could call any number of rats, which sufficed to keep him alive, but he went for the neck of humans for companionship, slaves, and sexual stimulation. It's a matter of interpretation.

I've been playing with a vampire story for some time now, and have already written a piece for the following questions, but feel free to have at it if you like.

What do they dream, if they dream? What do they nightmare, if they nightmare?

My only advice is to NOT make your stories an attempt to recreate the Ann Rice series. Those have been done to death, parodied to undeath and are about as fresh as a crypt.

Yeah.

I recommend a skim, at least. of the books. That way you'l have an idea what to avoid.

From my point of view. From what i read at least. Vampire do not have sex. No penetration at least. As have been said here before they get their thrills by the blood. Often from not only the neck but also from anywhere you got an artery (if that is spelled right). Like the inside of a thigh or the wrist.

As to sleeping. My idea is that vampires do not dream as their sleep are equal to being dead. They just are like dead peaple when they sleep, just no rigor mortis.

I would want to touch them, feel their skin, feel their chest where there is no heartbeat - that's if it would let me close enough.

I'd want to know where's thier favourite chomping spot - the neck [because it is easy?] or the thigh [much more intimate?] or pehaps the chest?

I'd want to know if their face changes or stays the same?

I would like to know if they are really solitary predators?

I would like to find out how much humanity [if any] remains? jealously, passion, pain etc
