(shrug) I can't help it when an image-hosting site goes out of business and takes my images with it. I've said quite recently I'll repost when and if I can find a stable service--although mindless "TV-generation" bitching of this sort disinclines me to even bother--but maybe you aren't exactly reading the text of the messages? Tell you what: put your money where your complaint is and give me several thousand dollars in funding and I'll pay the now-defunct organization's back bandwidth fees for them...assuming I can even find the business and the people behind it (I charge my standard hourly rate for that for finding service. ;) )

To further your education, assuming that is possible, Red X's usually indicate one of two things: the person was hotlinking (stealing bandwidth) from another site and they got pissed off and cut out the free ride. You see that a lot on someone of the more mainstream threads in this forum. Or, as in my case, the image hosting service either blocks your because someone has complained about your posts to them (host 1) or they have gone out of business (host 2). It has nothing to do with shit or shite or even incompetent excrement. More rarely, someone is self-hosting the stuff on one of their own websites, gets tired of paying the heavy bandwidth fees that could possibly be charged for the huge numbers of freeloaders you find on a forum like this viewing their images...and pulls them.

It's all about money, copyrights, and occasionally, a jealous or angry online crazy on a vendetta to shut down another poster's activities, and very, very seldom about shitE. What did you imagine? That people just automatically posted stuff that never showed up to anyone else...over and over and over again? Hard to believe anyone could be that obtuse when you can clearly read the many direct comments about the images that are now red x'd. :rolleyes:

My brother LOD used to post here. He made sure he kept copies of what he posted in special folders. Yeah things can go wrong with posted images. Many forums delete past images but keep the attachments to maintain band width.

Image hosts sometimes are not reliable.
 
He posted some awesome stuff, HD. Hope he has time to post again someday. I'm still on my quest to find the perfect hoster. I have a gut feeling that this entity is going to wind up being one of my domains...but I need to find a cheaper landlord before I go that route.

Have you tried this? You have to be careful not to upload an image thats too large. It should be 800 X 500 pixels or less.

Aww, thanks! :) I just got sucked into my online game (don't laugh--Everquest) a bit too much recently. Now I'm backing off it for awhile so it doesn't get old. That means I'll have more time to post.

Adding Fickr to my small-but-growing image host folder. :) I think imageshack is one of the ones that gave me trouble.

I know. I think Lit sort of banned the link for some reason. I went to the url, and clicked random amd saw some beautiful pics. There were porn too, but it's not allowed. Sooner or later they will be deleted.

Yes, I think so. No idea what it says though. Hard to run graphics through a translator.
