Where @ in Virginia? I'm in the 757!!VA here as well.
I went to Busch Gardens haunted houses last year and it was terrible becasue it was so crowded. I don't know if it was just because people were starting to venture back out but even the sidewalks were so crowded that I was constantly bumping into people. I was there on a Saturday night but even the regular rides had 1.5 hour lines. The October Fest house had a 45 minute wait to get food and a beer. It was crazy. I normally like Busch Gardens but they just let way too many people into the park that night. Maybe it will be better this year. I have not been to KD for years though I have enjoyed the park in the past. What is your favorite ride? That sounds like fun. I haven't been to a race since I was in college... and yes, I sported a fancy hat (in pink). I was so out of my league there but everybody was super nice.
I went to Kings Dominion for their haunt (and tumbili) last weekend. I usually go to Busch Gardens for the haunted houses, but I think I prefer KD now. A co-worker who has never been wants to go on Sat so I might do that.
Gazer, good to see you up & about Good Sir. Was up in your ole stomping grounds last month. Went up to Antietam for the 160 Anniversary of that Battle. A well spent day trekking over the field. Well attended & lots of “ interpretation “ stations. Had our 2nd Annual October Thanksgiving a couple or weeks ago. Much easier for California to visit in October as opposed to November. The “ Big News” is that there is an Irish Celtic Band coming to Waynesboro this Friday. Gaelic Storm Will be here on Friday. Got my tickets today & will be “ kilted up” on Friday. Sadly Guinness won’t be offered, but I’m sure I’ll be fine. I’ll raise my glass to you during the break. SlainteSo how was everyone's weekend? Anybody do anything interesting? I just worked around the house, caulking and such so no interresting stories to tell.
I know live amongst several civil war battlefields and planning on doing a bus tour of them one of these days once I get the house in order. What did you have for your October Thanksgiving? I always enjoy the upcoming holidays though once they are over come Jan 2, it is kind of bleak till spring comes around again.Gazer, good to see you up & about Good Sir. But they DID have Jamison’s . We were up in the balcony, which was about half full, main floor looked filled. Great show, 2 hours & 15 minutes worth of music & frivolity. 20 minute intermission to “ re-hydrate”. Saw one other gent “ kilted up”,& a lady also kilted up. A score of other attractive lassie’s round out the crowd. Looks like that will have to hold me till the “ High Holy Daze” of next March. Hope you’re having a decent weekend. How can there be a Celtic band and no Guinness? I cannot remember the name now but I had a fine milk stout the other week. Let us know if there are any fine Celtic lassies there Friday.
That would be me67swm in the 540 area anyone else in the 540 area
We’re you sitting up in the balcony? What color/style was your kilt? What did you think of the show? ThanksThat would be me
Glad you had a good time at the concert. I went to the Tap House the other night. Interesting concept. You get a card and all the beer taps are on the wall. Put your card in the slot, pour whatever amount of beer you want and that is what you get charged for. That way I don't have to just order 1 full beer, I can try several different beers. But they DID have Jamison’s . We were up in the balcony, which was about half full, main floor looked filled. Interesting concept, nothing like that here in the Valley, yet. Yes, the lassie’s can wear kilts too. At one of the Festival’s back in WNY they held the “ Highland Games” over the weekend. Both men & women competed, by weight classes. Very interesting watch the gals toss the caber. Would definitely Knot mess with them!Glad you had a good time at the concert. I am not too much for hard liquor. I went to a happy hour for work a couple of weeks ago and they were doing shots of some sort of Scotch. As soon as I walked in they handed me a shot so had to sip it though what I really wanted was a beer.
I did not know that women wore kilts.
Weekend has been ok. Worked outside on the house, just hoping this nice weather holds out a few more weekends till I get all of the caulking and other repairs done. Then I will be ready for winter.
There are some amazing women athletes out there. The Highland games sounds like something fun. I like those kinds of festivals. Been a few years since I last went but always enjoyed the Renaissance festival near Annapolis.Interesting concept, nothing like that here in the Valley, yet. Yes, the lassie’s can wear kilts too. Looks like one more summer like day tomorrow, then more like November starting Tuesday. Hope the house gets “ buttoned up” before the snow flies. Slainte
Yes, if you have never seen them before I would strongly encourage you to watch them for an hour or so. Of course usually the rest of the “Fest “ is going on at the same time. 3 stages for music, culture & history areas, animals ( border collie’s running an obstacle course), plenty of food an “ adult beverage’s “. And loads of folks who get “ festively attired” in some extremely creative & enticing outfits. Much like your Renaissance Festival. Well it’s 77 out, time to kick back with a “ cold one” & enjoy this last summer like day…. In November SlainteThere are some amazing women athletes out there. It was warm out today but it spittin a few rain drops and was cloudy here. Did my house chores and then played 9 holes of golf so it was a good day. The only problem is tomorrow is Monday so back to work.
I always enjoy when the ladies wear creative and enticing outfits. Sometimes at the Renaissance festival I believe that the saucy wenches are going to popout of their tops but to my disappointment they never do.Yes, if you have never seen them before I would strongly encourage you to watch them for an hour or so. I’m retired my Friend, I don’t get up at “ Ungodly hours” except to travel, or a historical anniversary. I did watch it rise the last two evenings. The last time I got up so early was back in December of 2013. Took Thursday off from work & got up at 2:30am. It was the 200th Anniversary of the British taking Fort Niagara during the War of 1812. Drove 45 miles to join approximately 100+ other “ history nuts”. ( including 2 couples with baby buggies) inside the Fort to witness a live reenactment of the British taking the Fort about 5:45 am. I was dressed in my “ snow blowing gear” as the event unfolded in “ real time”. We couldn’t see much as the sun light didn’t start showing till almost 7:00am over Lake Ontario. But it was fun & awe inspiring at the same time. Later they did a “ re-creation” of the “ burning” of Lewiston. When all was done I had breakfast at a dinner with a bunch of fellows who came down from Canada as part of the “ British army”. A December morning well spent. Stopped off at work to get my check, cashed it, then went home & slept till dinner. Something I will always remember. Take care Good Sir. SlainteAnybody get up to see the lunar eclipse this morning?
I did not make it up either even though I am into astronomy. I have seen lunar eclispes before. That is quite a memory you made remembering the last time you got up at an "ungodly hour." lol. I am more of a night person than a morning person. That renactment sounds really fun. I did not know they did that but guess I have lived to far south to hear about it. It makes me think of the battle scene in the Last of the Mohicans where the British were bombing the fort with the morters.I’m retired my Friend, I don’t get up at “ Ungodly hours” except to travel, or a historical anniversary. Astronomy ye say… hence your moniker, Slainte Good Sir. Yes it would have been similar to the Last of the Mohicans, but minus the artillery. As I remember what they told us the British surprised a not to wide awake check point, they used the bayonet. They also managed to get the password from one of the survivors. Using that password & the bayonet they gained entry into the fort. There actually wasn’t a whole lot of musket fire. As I remember it, there were a number of War of 1812 commemoration’s for the 200th Anniversary fir a couple of years, on both sides of the border. I suspect there will be lots of 250th Anniversary events focused on the American Revolution starting in 2025. I have definitely noticed a “ starry night sky” here in the Valley, as compared to WNY. It is most impressive. SlainteI did not make it up either even though I am into astronomy. I have seen lunar eclispes before.
