I only have one small problem. The ICQ# listed in my profile is incorrect...actually I don't have an ICQ#.

Is there a way for me to edit that page (like our original profiles) or must you do it?

I'm just curious to know, how many ppl have had the mail flooded with requests to talk to them since they posted their Profile.

I didn't check my mail yesterday, or today and just now when I went into it, there were 25 mssgs. From ppl I have never seen on this BB wanting to know more about me.

Are they writing to everyone?

One more thing, Where did they all come from? And how come they're not on the bidding block???

We all know I love that damn Auction house.

One more female speaking up! I too, am receiving alot more mail since putting up my profile. I go on icq, and I have authorization requests, I go to AOL and Lo and behold, I have new chat partners. I go into yahoo and find new messages everyday, from people I do not know. I am also getting many requests for my web page address, that I mentioned I had in my registered profile section. I like the recognition I have to say, because before it was pretty Damn quiet. I had no idea if my stories were even being read. Now, I know they are. I would really like to hear from some BB members as well. I am kind of shy and just sit back and watch for the most part. There are many times I would love to join in a chat on the BB, but I don't. I guess if I joined in more often and got to know a few of you, I would feel more comfortable. I am a very likeable person, once I come out of hiding. Hi everyone, I guess I should apologize, because I am new at this site and when I saw the member profiles I just thought that it would be so neat to actually talk to the GREAT people that have written the AWESOME stories on literotica. I don't think that I am " one of those nuts," but I sure wasn't trying to annoy anyone, (sorry specialK)

For awhile now I've been enjoying the stories and observing the BB, finally got the nerve up to post a reply. I hope to be able to contribute a story soon and maybe that will make me a little more accepted here. I think that this site is the GREATEST thing on the net today.

Hope to get to know some of you better in the future, please tell me how I should do this--- listening to forums, I'll do whatever it takes

I love the idea of having profiles. I don't get a lot of time to read the bb. I have just submitted my first two stories and have more in the works.

Well, I personally enjoy reading what an author has to say about herself or himself - adds another dimension to their work. I think that context is everything. An example of what I'm trying to say is one of my favorite writers, Willam T. Vollman. He's an absolutely insanely brilliant writer, but his writing is only half the story. Knowing that he's traveled all over the world, lived in worn-torn impoverished villages, slept side by side with junkies, freaks, and the forgotten... Knowing that his sister died when he was young and that it was partly his fault... All this makes you understand the pain in his stories, and opens up new levels of meaning that you might've missed if you didn't know where he was coming from.

So, if I read a story by an author, then go back and read his profile and discover interesting info on him or her - where he's from, his marital state, what makes him write, whether he writes professionally or not, etc. - I may actually go back and reread the story with this new information in mind.

And for those who don't have stories on the site, a profile is a cool way to "put a face on" the names in chat and the BB, as well as those just as interesting but much quieter "lurkers" out there.

It doesn't have to be a Playboy Centerfold interview - "turn-ons" "turn-offs" "favorite color" etc. Nor does it have to be "I was born in 1965 in Maryland..." I like to read about what the member does for a living (doesn't have to be too specific) because I think that says a lot about a person's interests and focus, as does his or her hobbies. I like to read about what made them start writing or reading erotica. I like to know a little about their family life - married or single, pets, etc. Whatever you want to give me.

I'm a biography junkie - true stories have always intrigued me, more so than fiction. I can sit down at Disneyland or in airports for hours at a time, watching people go by. The "kick" I get from this site is that erotica is a peek inside the author's head and libido. That's the payoff - the fact that I get to read 20-50 stories a day and no matter what the quality, length, or subject matter, each one tells me a little bit about the author - a little bit that they've probably never revealed to anyone else.

For me, it's the information. I have AIM and ICQ, but it takes a pretty provocative opener for me to talk to someone without a profile. In the chat room, I don't generally initiate conversations with people who have no profile. Simply put, it gives me something to talk about with a person.

With an author, you have the work; how do you go about e-mailing one of the ladies who sounds interesting without sounding like just another Horny Net Geek?

If all you know of someone is what you read on the BB, it's very easy to get the wrong impression. What they say about themselves in a profile is less likely to be mis-interpreted. I think.
