It was a blanket statement. The important detail being that we aren't blameless and I don't make a habit of calling anybody out on it. No deductions except:
interest on primary residence (with limits),rent (with
limits),
health care insurance and expenses.
personal and dependent deductions enough so a family
at the poverty level pays no tax except for the 1%

Everyone is taxed on every dime they are compensated for at the same rate.

3 or 4 tax brackets with the hiegst being no more than 35%

SS and medicare at a lower rate but on all income.

The fine details can be work out later,
